@ergestx Quite agree. A query optimiser that you think you know well can change from one product version to another, and a subset that can fit now into the memory of each distributed node can be worth allowing to happen.

@tgamblin BTW when I searched "permissive" as a word I didn't get any software references in the first result page. When I did that for copyleft then I didn't get anything but software references. So if either term needs couching in "so called" it is permissive.

@tgamblin Well it's certainly opinionated and is the poorer for it. For wanting "broad adoption" a so-called permissive license clearly allows for incorporation into proprietary works - but many other statements there are dubious away from a context of keeping proprietary partners happy.

@ergestx Because even after all these years there's still precious little Science in Computer Science and even less Science in Data Science. Dijkstra was right about the former and I hope he never had to tackle the latter.

@ergestx Except there's a bit more out of frame where Data Analysts have already dug trenches, a rough one from their first go, and a neat 2nd one into which they put a good pipe each time they run stuff through, but that the Data Engineer ignores and/or won't "approve" fixing into place.

@ergestx yes, perhaps the least shareable reusable language of all. I keep wanting to make an archetype version of it (and while I've built my own archetype tooling that's always outside the language).

@ergestx @ae4ai then my advice is don't ever name them as "date" - leads to big misunderstandings. I sometimes use _when as suffix instead for a timestamp.
