@JaneSetter My mum (from County Cork) used 'gansey' for 'jumper' (I presume from guernsey (compare with jersey). Also appears up here in NE England. She also used 'oxter' for armpit (as in 'he held the book under his oxter' (under his arm). Again, also heard here in the NE
