Shopify is threatening to shut down our brands, including a ~$4M/month business.

That store is over 2 years old and has never received a single IP complaint.

Why? A former business partner ran a completely separate Shopify store through a corporate entity I owned. I had limited admin access, but never operated that business.

That store later got terminated over DMCAs, and Shopify is now using that historical connection to come after our businesses too.

Different Shopify account. Different admin email. Different corporate entity. Different operators.

Our ~$4M/month brand was already operating before the other store even started selling.

And listen to this:

Shopify terminated the other store, continued processing millions of dollars for us, moved us onto Shopify Plus afterwards, and then weeks later suddenly gave us 7 days to disappear.

The main store has a 0.28% chargeback rate, 24 people depend on it, processes more than 1000 orders a day, and has over $1M in inventory that I’m now stuck with.

Zero IP complaints…

If this is actually how Shopify treats established merchants, where someone else’s history can suddenly put completely separate businesses at risk because of an old connection, every serious operator building on Shopify should know about it.

I really hope this is an enforcement mistake.
