“The Pension Fund has completely divested from 11 Israeli companies.”
Norway’s wealth fund has terminated contracts with asset managers handling its Israeli investments and divested parts of its portfolio in the country due to Israel’s actions in Gaza and the occupied West Bank

"It's not that long ago that our culture and identity was nearly stamped out by colonial powers and that's happening elsewhere in the world right now, and it's very important that Irish people do not forget that or turn a blind eye"

David Lammy: "We must also praise the courage of ordinary Russians taking to the streets of Moscow, in St. Petersburg and beyond, under the threat of repression, to show their opposition to this despot"
"Yvette Cooper expressed support for the suffragettes, a safe thing to do 100 years on. But if the Suffragettes were active today, Yvette Cooper would ban them as a terrorist organisation.
Today’s villains are tomorrow's heroes and today’s heroes were villains in their time”
I wish if I had never spent any time or energy on politics in this world of hate & division.
I wish if I'd remained in the world of mathematics, engineering & poetry.
I chose none of this. All I did was get born on the wrong side of the apartheid fence for my life, my childhood & my loved ones to be stolen from me.
I count my age by how many Israeli wars I survived, how many times I almost died, how many times my family's been displaced... My earliest childhood memory is an airstrike, my second earliest memory is checkpoints, IDF soldiers, shouting, cursing, pointing guns at us... children!
My conversations with Gazans friends, even before Oct 7, are almost always about how their lives have been ruined & their future robbed from them. How they fight everyday the hardest they can to just live, but get crushed every time. How they are terrified of dying before ever having gotten one chance to experience living, just living!
My entire being is under assault. I have to maintain an encyclopedic memory of facts, dates, numbers, names, historical milestones, article headlines, page numbers in books, verbatim quotes at the tip of my head at all times, to fight the vilest of propaganda & the worst of racists, or else I'll be dehumanized & blamed for everything they've done to me.
I have to keep calm at all times, be a moderate, a peacenik, a pacifist, a perfect victim to earn the right to speak, to earn mere crumbs of sympathy, or else I'm a radical extremist who "deserves it"! (There's never such a thing as a perfect victim. A victim is a victim no matter what until the oppression done to them ceases).
I tell myself after this war, I'll either do a Gaza-centred Phd to spell everything in my head out on paper or I'll become an organic farmer & never look back at politics.
But I know, with Israel undeterred, coddled, flooded with arms, celebrated, & blinded with arrogance & a sense of invincibility, there will be another war & another one & another one...
Generations of us destroyed b/c of politics. The very thing I hate. The very thing imposed on me. They very I'm stuck with... until when?
1/ I’m an Israeli academic. My community is too silent about the ongoing war in Gaza. Here is how I see things based on reading hundreds of articles and watching thousands of videos and images about the war. This tweet chain contains my conclusions as a sort of executive summary.
There was something very odd in the PM’s speech last night - something which infuses RE in the primary school curriculum too: the idea that everyone in this country is religious in one way or another, when we know from polls that over half the population is not religious. 1/7
My friend Sarah made this video that will educate many generations to come about the only genocide in the world that was live-streamed for the world to see, in real time.
The world FAILED the Palestinians again
