@VeronikaSain@Michael54325847 Who said they were very young, many parents do not know exactly where and what their maybe 13, 14 or 15 year olds are and what they are doing at every minute of every day.
Six children have been put on life support at Temple Street after e-scooter crashes. In the past fortnight! Parents have a responsibility, but so do retailers. More must be done at the point of sale.
Truly shocking statistics.

@adriantowey They are sold In a toy shop alongside bikes and regular scooters despite being illegal for under 16 year olds. We separate the sale of alcohol and cigarettes and restrict it at the point of sale.
@DaronAoran And yet according to a doc quoted in the report " we've had plenty of children who were injured using e-scooters that were not bought for them by their parents, and were not their own."
@AccessForAll7@CareChampions2@McNiffecent Covered that yesterday on DriveTime, lreland treats disabled people like charity cases - its appalling

Imagine facing every single day knowing that the system meant to support your children is failing them.
Jane Johnstone, a devoted mother of two, spoke with Katie Hannon on RTÉ Radio 1’s Drivetime about the relentless challenges her family continues to face. As we head into summer, families like Jane’s are left without appropriate supports, left to navigate a landscape of deep anxiety and fear for what the future holds.
Jane isn’t just fighting for her own sons; she is campaigning for #BeforeWeDie, a movement of parents desperately advocating for secure transition plans for their children with intellectual disabilities.
No parent should have to spend their entire life fighting just to ensure their children are looked after when they are gone.
Next Wednesday, a Dáil motion tabled by Liam Quaide TD will be brought to the floor. We need our Govt to do more than just show up, we need them to act. Ireland can, and must, do better.

How often do we have to go on national radio and tv just to try and get the supports and services that we desperately need to be able to live a relatively equal life as our fellow citizens?
It’s relentless, yet at the same time we are told time and again that this country has never been wealthier.
We look back over the 15yrs of our activism and one discussion we had 13yrs ago sticks with us, a prof in the RCSI who said to us “Ireland is no country you would want to live in with a disability or long term illness” we know why.
@Trinny7@Smartheat Shops selling electric scooters for kids does little to convey risk to parents or indeed the legal status but also a doc in the report said "we've had plenty of children who were injured using e-scooters that were not bought for them by their parents, and were not their own."
