Maya Forstater, the chief executive of human rights charity Sex Matters, has said Amnesty should have reported itself to the charity regulator long before backlash against its report.

That is because the charity intervened in the case that led to the landmark Supreme Court ruling on sex and gender last year, which clarified that someone’s biological sex determines whether they are male or female.
