❌They DO NOT resolve, shorten, or lessen intensity of delirium
❌DO NOT prevent delirium
✅are associated with real HARM!

However,🥇standard interventions prevent 30-40% of delirium cases!

More fractures occur in 'osteopenia' than in 'osteoporosis' on DXA! A fragility/osteoporotic fracture means #osteoporosis has been diagnosed, even if the DXA scan shows osteopenia!

I've seen too many older adults "diagnosed" with #dementia and continued indefinitely on antipsychotics (sometimes for years!!) because it wasn't clearly documented on discharge the patient had acute #delirium!

I thought I could "tell" when a patient had delirium...then I started using standardized tools (3D-CAM).

Now I recommend it to anyone who wants to do better! Accurately recognizing #delirium is important!!
