Umaaligid was originally written for six voices, with a very distinct vocal register. Yet Sarah was brave enough to perform it solo, wearing a corset, without losing the song’s swag and angst. This spoke volumes about her artistry, vocal prowess, and deep passion for music.

It’s been almost 23 years since she won Star for a Night. Over the years, we’ve seen so many talented winners, amazing singers, and remarkable performers emerge. But until now, no one has truly followed, or even come close to what Sarah Geronimo has achieved in the Philippine showbiz industry.

After Nora Aunor, Sharon Cuneta, and Regine Velasquez, icons who were all blessed with an extraordinary connection to the masses. Sarah Geronimo became the next solo artist in the Philippines who is truly bankable. She can shine in both drama and rom-com films, multi-awarded in both music and movies, can fill massive concert venues on her own, and remains one of the most trusted names in endorsements.

This is now the era of P-pop groups, and I genuinely celebrate that. Still, I quietly hope that one day, the industry will once again produce a solo artist who can follow in the footsteps of these Superstars, someone at that level of greatness, talent, and influence. More than anything, I hope the next generation will be blessed with an artist who carries not only excellence, but also deep humility.
