@_AmandaKerri@Eviedrinkwater9@mattxiv She has a lot of videos explicitly made for parents and their children to watch together. Also her humanitarian work and statements are obviously sending a message to adults, even if her content is primarily directed towards toddlers. Like, you can do both.
@MustafaRaw_ @ma1ybe Yes, gender roles are learned. The patriarchal idea of gender hurts men as well. Differently and arguably not as much, but men are also affected. That‘s why it‘s so important to be intersectional, foster a positive community with one another.
@russnelson@PopBase@Cosmopolitan Taking responsibility for their social and political impact is something that should be expected from everybody. "Doing one‘s job" doesn’t absolve you from that. In fact it sometimes makes it even more important, for example if your job has a parasocial element.
@MirandaSaylor01@murthy_sonam@ma1ybe Why do think the situation would be comparable? You think one civilian has the same institutional power as a group of cops? The cops also at least have the training to detain the guy. Plus it‘s way easier to stay calm when it‘s not your own kid that is being molested.
You don‘t need to "speak" on politics to be political. "Politicality" is a byproduct of being-alongside-others. Being social means being political. This is such a common misconception people seem to have, and the biases we bring to the word "politics" play a big role I think.
Cosmopolitan asks Sydney Sweeney if she ever intends to publicly state her political beliefs:
“No. I’m not a political person. I’m in the arts. I’m not here to speak on politics. That’s not an area I’ve ever even imagined getting into. It’s not why I became who I am. I became an actor because I like to tell stories, but I don’t believe in hate in any form. I believe we should all love each other and have respect and understanding for one another.”

@a_strider_again@Cutvin@mattxiv This says nothing about science though? Also fairness is just a social concept. It has changed throughout history, is different in different cultures and so on. So why are you so sure we have reached the definitive, perfect version of fairness in sports?
@a_strider_again@PITTpersons@mattxiv You want to make a point that we should oppose trans women in women’s sport. Then you say "most people think this so if you disagree you are actually helping people who also don‘t want trans women in women‘s sports". That‘s quite the claim and also a fallacy.
@a_strider_again@Cutvin@mattxiv Yeah, and for good reason.
The fairness discussion requires way more nuance, so I neither say that, nor the opposite. I think the concept of fairness in sports has to be reexamined once more (that happens all the time anyways). Just this time it‘s a bit more foundational.
@a_strider_again@PITTpersons@mattxiv Where did they claim that?
So far it looks like you just made up an absurd point on your own, then identified that point as absurd and concluded that their actual arguments are somehow helping the right wing because of that.
@a_strider_again@Cutvin@mattxiv The issue was pushed by the right. The left doesn‘t exactly campaign to "put trans women into women’s sports", however there are campaigns to push trans women out of them. We‘d like to focus on different things, but we also can‘t just sacrifice trans people for it.
@tielliebon@TenPins12@90stomboy@ma1ybe@Susan_E_J_USA I think it‘s important to add that this cognitive dissonance was also deliberately established and nurtured (to this day) within society to incentivize gender struggle over class struggle. The reality is that the latter already implies the former.
@WaveyMort@mattxiv Why does she have a problem with campaigning for trans kids? Conservatives also run whole campaigns on "safe the children" stuff. Why is it a problem when these kids are trans? She didn‘t have a problem with Trump wanting to "protect cis kids from trans ideology".
@Be4ReA@l000igix@ENDINGYOURFAVES@WaveyMort@mattxiv@GavinNewsom That‘s not what he said. "I want to see trans kids" != "I don‘t want to see any other kids" This is about creating a society where trans kids can publicly exist without fear. Cis kids are already an established group, so don‘t have to be explicitly mentioned.
@DarksideEevee@pokestatstcg@Alloutblitzle@azulgg In theory yes, but it seems like the decks playing watchtower now don‘t 1hko Kanga with a bravery charm even with watchtower out. And the big 1hko decks don‘t play the card right now.
