This post was intended only to add factual information providing the larger context of Northern Ireland.
It has nevertheless unleashed a slew of racist responses from some commenters, including a threat of violence against me (which I’ve blocked and reported).
Belfast ranks 32nd per capita for asylum seekers in the UK.
Northern Ireland hosts 2,379 in total. That’s 0.1% of its population.
NI is 97% white.
Asylum seekers are not “illegal migrants”; they’re going through a legal government process.

These aren't "protests" in Northern Ireland.
They're not "riots" either.
It's a pogrom.
It's a systematic attempt to drive minorities out of their homes using violence.
It's been whipped up by the media, our politicians, and the racist psychopath who runs this app.
In the UK, sitting peacefully opposing genocide is deemed terrorism whilst burning houses, rioting and targeting minority groups is considered ‘protest’
Englands warm up games have been too slow, pedantic and predictable. Need to show more dynamism, bravery and creativity. Could be an early exit as one of the favs.
Ben Lowry: "There's a determination to depict Unionists and Loyalists as more racist than anyone else. -That's entirely wrong "
Jackie Long #c4news
"But most of the chaos of last night was in Loyalist areas wasn't it?"
Ben Lowry: "Yes, it was” 🤔

These people have been burning out innocent families in the north of Ireland for as long as I’ve been alive. And mostly white, Christian families at that. Before a black face was ever seen in Belfast there were plenty of black hearts
Kevin Maguire: "After the attack on the Liverpool football parade & it was a white guy, middle class, former royal marine, no-one went after other white, middle class former marines & set this person represents that entire group"
1 in 20 Catholic families were burned out of their homes in Belfast in 1969.
As one scholar put it, at the time it was "the largest forced population movement in Western Europe since the Second World War."
The difference in @England and @IrelandFootball is night and day. Leaks everywhere on eve of World Cup announcement yet nothing from @IrelandFootball on who would’ve been. Admiral stuff. 👏
@squinteratn@bbctheview Thought exactly the same myself. He accepted it like a compliment after he had dusted down the ornament on the mantelpiece. Weird behaviour.
@Cantona_Collars One of the few Utd managers I felt genuinely sorry for. Brutal on a human level. So glad he delivered us the FA Cup. Comes across as a genuinely lovely human being and a great football man.
@AlternativeMUFC Love this ❤️ Was fortunate enough to be at the Carabao Leicester game. Van Nistelrooys first in charge and see him score that wonder goal with my daughter at her first game. Memories for a lifetime. Uncle Cass 🇧🇷 🇾🇪
