@profsamperry It would not. We already have about 45x the number of prospective adoptive families as we do infants available. And over 90% of women denied abortion choose to parent, rather than relinquish. The availability of adoptive families is irrelevant to those making pregnancy decisions.
@LizSzabo Depends on the type of data, but for counting abortions or demographic information on abortion patients, you’ll want the Guttmacher or SFP numbers that @RachelFey linked.
@sydneybrokeit @corsent They use geofencing to market their services to vulnerable pregnant people at abortion clinics, public hospitals, addiction treatment centers.
Tomorrow afternoon, my Seattle book talk with @theadoptedlife will be on @BookTV@cspan. I really enjoyed this conversation with Angela! Many thanks to her for joining me.
@RudyOwensMemoir @kathrynajoyce My point is that adoption as an institution is conservative even if it isn’t recognized as such — it’s precisely a call for progressive/left of center electeds to recognize the ways it’s out of sync with their values. Having bipartisan support doesn’t make it less conservative.
