Every family is different. Every child is different. My son has a diagnosed speech delay and screen time allowed us to work with him more in a way that he would tolerate, for longer periods of time. He already goes to speech therapy twice per week.
As a result of this additional effort, he will be able to start school on time this year and be able to properly communicate. He is already reading very early compared to his speech, thanks in part to turning on all the subtitles.
He also uses both his tablet and YouTube to pull up animated instructions and walkthrough videos while putting his Lego sets together (he’s putting together sets way beyond his age now after doing the first few)
I say all that to say, it’s a matter of the quality of the content being viewed on the screen versus how much time is actually being spent. There’s tons of phenomenal educational resources
