Claude vibe coded your app in a weekend, but you can get sued before you manage to monetize it.
AI tools ship features, but they don't ship compliance.
10 legal traps hiding in vibe-coded apps:
1. Your database is open to the internet.
Row Level Security off, or API keys in the frontend. Researchers found 170 Lovable-built apps leaking user data this way. A leak triggers breach-notice laws in every US state.
2. No privacy policy.
California law requires one for any app collecting personal info from Californians, up to $2,500 per violation. Apple, Google Play and Google sign-in verification will reject you without one.
3. Kids on your app.
If it's kid-oriented, or you know a user is under 13, COPPA requires parental consent before you collect anything, including cookies and device IDs. Up to $53,088 per violation.
4. Session replay recording everything.
Capturing clicks and keystrokes before consent invites California wiretap claims at $5,000 per violation. The 2026 reform didn't touch wiretap claims.
5. Pixels on health data.
Meta Pixel on a symptom tracker or intake form. GoodRx paid $1.5M. BetterHelp paid $7.8M.
6. Marketing emails with no unsubscribe or postal address.
Up to $53,088 per email under CAN-SPAM. B2B included.
7. Auto-renew buried under the Pay button.
California requires renewal terms clear, conspicuous and next to the consent, plus online cancellation. The FTC's click-to-cancel rule died in court. ROSCA didn't: Amazon paid $2.5B.
8. Your chatbot never says it's AI.
The EU AI Act has required disclosure since Aug 2, 2026, with fines up to €15M or 3% of turnover. California's companion-chatbot law adds $1,000-per-violation lawsuits.
9. No alt text, no labels, no keyboard nav.
3,117 federal website-accessibility lawsuits were filed in 2025, up 27%.
10. Users upload content, no DMCA agent.
$6 at the Copyright Office, renewed every 3 years. Skip it and you lose the safe harbor. Statutory damages go up to $150,000 per work if willful.
Use this prompt before you ship:
"Audit this codebase for legal and security gaps and list each one with file and line:
1. RLS enabled on every table, no secrets in client code
2. Privacy policy page that matches what we actually collect, linked in the footer, at signup and in the app
3. Neutral age gate if the app could attract under-13s, and a path to handle them
4. No analytics, session replay or pixels before consent, and never on form, chat, payment or health fields
5. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link and a postal address, opt-outs honored within 10 business days
6. Subscription terms next to the pay button, a confirmation email, one-click online cancellation
7. Chatbot discloses it's AI in its first message
8. WCAG 2.1 AA basics: alt text, labels, keyboard navigation, contrast
9. DMCA page and registered agent if users can upload content
10. Every third-party script and font listed, self-hosted where possible"
AI made shipping fast, but shipping it to production is another story.

Spirit Tech Release #1 - "The Light"
The Light is a spiritual technology that allows any person to achieve anything they want, simply by wanting it.
The physics of reality are designed to bend toward whatever experience you create. This is built into the uncertainty of the underlying structure of the Universe. While we do not yet have the math to model it, we can prove experimentally that it is a real physical phenomenon.
People have hinted at this with “the Law of Attraction.” However, that is an observation of the physical law, not the technology that is built upon it.
The technology is useful because the law is measurable, and while we lack the scientific tools to measure it, we have the scale of many human experiences to agree statistically that it is a real physical law. It is a fundamental part of the nature of reality. It is the substance by which we can define why we are here, what we are doing here, and what all of this becomes.
The Light can be proven experimentally to exist using scientific methodology, although the true physical nature of how it works is yet to be discovered, similar to all other physical laws and matter. It is like gravity: measurable, but without an understanding of what the fundamental nature is. Through science, math, research, and understanding, the mechanics will eventually be knowable.
The Light has three distinctive features:
You can prove to yourself that it is real through your own experience.
You can share it with others once you’ve proven it to yourself.
Others can see tangibly how it has impacted your life.
A good example of someone who “holds The Light” is Elon Musk. Regardless of how you feel about him as a person, it is obvious that he believes that anything he wants to do is achievable, and he is not blocked by limitations. He is smart and hard-working, but the key feature that defines his success is that he believes that he can do anything, and he challenges his teammates to see the same in themselves.
Many of you have The Light already. If your life feels incredibly interesting, if you’re getting what you always dreamed of, if you are excited by what direction your life is headed, then you have it.
But everyone can have it. You can have it right now if you can sit down with yourself and say out loud exactly the things that you want, with no apologies or reservations. If you can imagine it, and you accept it, and you commit to it, then it will become your future.
You will need to be honest with yourself. You will need to quiet your stories and your narratives and your explanations. You will need to say, “I want ,” out loud, and you will need to accept that you deserve it, that you’re not a bad person for wanting it, and that you are doing the best possible thing for yourself by having it. You cannot be wishy-washy, or you will get wishy-washiness.
Otherwise, it takes absolutely no effort on your part. There’s no action or doing, other than accepting opportunities as they arise. You get what you want, and that comes down to every decision you make.
Often we choose to suffer. Often we get what we want but then find out it was not the thing we wanted, and there are other things we want.
Oftentimes, people believe that they don’t get what they want, but in almost all cases, it is extremely obvious to anyone on the outside that they are wanting other things or do not feel like they are allowed to want it.
You can try this yourself, but if you are struggling, then it may be beneficial to meet up with someone who already has it and can share it with you.
Once you are in possession of spiritual technology, you can share it with others. They may be skeptical at first, since it is not obvious how it works, only that it works. If they can see that you have gotten what you wanted, they will be receptive to experimenting for themselves. You can try to share The Light before you have gotten the things you wanted, or on your way to them, but the closer you are to those things that are fulfilling, the easier it will be to share with others.
There are other spiritual technologies. This is just the first.
Most founders copy/paste their privacy policy from Stripe or ask Claude to draft an MSA at 2:00 AM, then pray they don't get sued.
You can stop doing this.

Cursor is now part of @SpaceX.
Today, we have officially closed our acquisition. We will join the @spacexai team to help make Grok the world's most useful AI and improve Grok Build, Grok Bot, Grok API, Cursor, and more.
SpaceX has built some of the most inspiring and impressive technology in the world, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to become part of such a special company. Onwards.
1/ The best AI now has a dial.
Claude Opus 5 points to a bigger shift: model choice is becoming less about "smartest" and more about how much reasoning the job deserves.
5/ Do not automate chaos.
Audit the leak first.
Then build the system.

Bad prompts are usually bad handoffs. AI needs context, constraints, examples, and a clear done point. If you can’t explain the handoff, AI can’t reliably run it.
