@robertoblake Agree on leaving the low end. What also separates premium freelancers is how professional it feels after the yes: onboarding, contracts, invoices, updates. Clients paying top rates expect a studio experience, not a DM thread.
@LigerzeroTTV This. Payment gates protect both sides: the client isn't paying for work they haven't seen, and the freelancer isn't carrying all the risk. Most disputes like this start when the milestones only existed in DMs, not in a signed agreement.
@Angelo1119908 The late-payment invoice template is a great call. It's the one everyone wishes they had before they needed it. We launched Kwill this week (contracts, invoices, follow-ups in one client portal), so same corner of the internet. Good luck with the build.
@GbengaWemimo The silence right before signing is the worst, because you've already done the scoping for free. What helps: send the contract and first invoice together while the momentum is there, and let reminders do the nudging. That's a big part of why we built Kwill.
@Links54official Useful roundup. If you're taking suggestions for the next update: Kwill just went live. It's a branded client portal where freelancers handle contracts, invoices, scheduling and follow-ups in one place.
@smartnakamoura Solid list. The catch: 5 free tools = 5 logins for you and 5 links for your client. We just launched Kwill to put contracts, invoicing, scheduling and follow-ups in one branded client portal. Would love your take as a dev freelancer.
@jessieca911 The Instagram part hurts. By follow-up #3 you start feeling like the bad guy for asking to be paid for work you already did. We built Kwill so reminders go out on their own from your branded portal and you never write that email. It's live if you want to try it.
@realbayoX "My landlord doesn't batch rent quarterly" is the whole argument. The other fix is upstream: net-30 in the signed contract and on every invoice, with automatic reminders. That's why we built Kwill (live now): contracts, invoices and follow-ups in one client portal.
@youssef2014449@virtualsistas Same pain pushed us to build Kwill. We went for making it easy to pay the first time: the invoice, the files and the payment all sit in one branded link. Always good to see more people fixing this. How are clients reacting to the automatic reminders?
@umzrs Running an agency in reality: 3 clients asking "any update?" at the same time, an invoice that's 21 days overdue, and "final_v7_REAL.pdf" sitting in someone's inbox.
@AliGrowthX The accountant part is what hurts most. Sending invoices, chasing payment, working out which file is the final one. We built Kwill so proposals, invoices, payments and files all live in one link per client. It's live if anyone wants to hand off a few of those jobs.
@MaxGrant__ Visibility beats performance more often than people admit. Half of client anxiety goes away when they can open one place and see what's done, what's next and what they owe. That's the reason we built Kwill, and it's live now.
@AlexHartsuff 30 clients on $2โ3K retainers is its own full-time job before you've done any actual work. Moving to fewer, bigger clients fixes the money. A clean client experience is what keeps those big accounts. Great breakdown.
@avalondesign_ Agree with the thread. If a portal asks clients to sign up, they'll go right back to DMs. That's why we built Kwill around a single link: the client opens it and everything's there, no hunting through email. It's live if you ever want to add it to the review.
@heyDhavall@rocketdotnew Love this. That spread across WhatsApp, email and Drive is exactly the problem. We've been building Kwill for the same thing: a branded portal for proposals, invoices, payments and files. It's live now. Curious what your clients use most?
@Joycecore__ Solid list. The catch is your client now has to deal with 5 of these tools. We built Kwill so proposals, invoices, payments, files and messages sit behind one branded link. The client only ever needs that one link. It's live if anyone wants to shrink the stack.
@lukepierceops #1 is the whole game. Clients don't churn because the work is bad, they churn because they can't see it. We built Kwill for exactly this: one branded link per client where updates, files, invoices and approvals live. It's live now if anyone wants to stop sending recap emails.
@MahimaJalan2 A well-packaged proposal makes the $1k (or $10k) conversation much easier. We just launched Kwill so freelancers can send proposals, contracts and invoices from their own branded portal: https://t.co/SYAsa7j7b4
@denizdoingstuff The client who pushes back on everything usually respects a clear process more than a good argument: signed scope, visible timeline, deposit upfront. We launched Kwill today to make that process look pro from day one โ https://t.co/SYAsa7j7b4
