Victim blaming as a weapon! ተጠቂን የመርገም ታክቲክ
1.Reframing aggression as provocation — portraying the victim’s existence or resistance as the cause of attacks against them.
2.False equivalence — treating the aggressor and the victim as morally equal, neutralizing accountability.
3.Delegitimizing the victim’s grievances — labeling their protests as political, extremist, or self-serving.
4.Institutional capture — using state media, bureaucracy, and proxies to amplify the blame narrative.
5.Gaslighting — denying documented wrongdoing while presenting the perpetrator as reasonable and the victim as irrational.

A toddler. An 86-year-old. A deacon. Shot dead in their homes and farms. In Oct 2025, at least 24 Orthodox Christians were massacred in Arsi, Oromia — and the government said “no one was killed.” This is what state-sponsored victim blaming looks like.

The Sudanese RSF soldiers cruising through Benshangul Gumuz region, 45 km inside Ethiopian border. There are already so many armed groups in Ethiopia, now we have imported at least three more from Sudan/ South Sudan.
The cries of families mourning innocent civilians targeted and killed in Oromia for being Orthodox Christians should shake the conscience of the world. The ongoing failure to protect citizens under @AbiyAhmedAli is unacceptable. @UNHumanRights
This is the official statement of @EcnasT regarding the latest wave of killings, displacement, destruction of homes, and attacks on places of worship targeting Orthodox Christian communities in the East Arsi Zone of the Oromia Region, Ethiopia. Please share widely @NeaminZeleke
If you were to dedicate even two minutes of coverage on your podcast, it could bring much-needed international attention to a crisis that has been overlooked.
Thank you!
The 8 years continued #orthodoxmassacre in #Arsi#Oromia#Ethiopia region is not an isolated event, rather it is the result of a systematic grand ideology called #Orommuma orchestrated by Abiy regime.
This is a brilliant and profound article by novelist and essayist Wai Yan Hpone. It holds truth not only for Burmese speakers but for those of many other cultures.
