True ownership starts with decentralization.
Proud to support initiatives like this by @DavaoDefi and to be building on Base, bringing secure, trustless P2P transactions to more users. 🔵
The future of finance is onchain. Let’s build.

4/ Rampz: Decentralizing Finance & Empowering Users
Erich Liwag, Founder of @RampzP2P, challenged the audience to rethink digital asset ownership.
"Centralized exchanges hold your funds for you, but that also means you're not in control."
Rampz is changing that. It’s a decentralized P2P exchange that lets users trade digital assets directly without intermediaries.
🔒 Secure escrow system
⚡ Lower transaction fees
👥 True asset ownership
@RampzP2P is built on Base & backed by a grant from Base to bring secure, onchain financial solutions to more users.

Why This Keeps Happening: The Flaws of Centralized On/Off-Ramping
The Bybit hack is the latest in a long list of exchange exploits, highlighting serious vulnerabilities in how centralized platforms manage funds:
Custodial Risks – Users must trust a centralized entity to secure their funds, making them a prime target for hackers.
🔹 Lack of Transparency – Once stolen, funds can be moved across multiple chains, making tracking difficult.
🔹 KYC Data at Risk – Not only are assets compromised, but users’ personal information can also be leaked in such attacks.
🔹 Slow Response Time – Even with blockchain analytics firms and law enforcement involved, hackers can quickly move and launder funds before action is taken.
Clearly, centralized on/off-ramping solutions come with massive risks, and users need a better, safer alternative.
How the Bybit Hack Unfolded: What We Know So Far
1️⃣ The Exploit – On February 22, 2025, a hacker gained access to Bybit’s cold wallet, transferring 401,000 ETH (valued at over $1.5 billion) to an unknown address.
2️⃣ Laundering Begins – Within hours, funds were being swapped across cross-chain platforms like THORChain and OKX DEX, moving into BTC and stablecoins like DAI, making tracking significantly harder.
3️⃣ North Korea Connection – Blockchain analysts, including ZachXBT and TRM Labs, have identified significant overlaps with past Lazarus Group hacks, indicating that the stolen funds may be used to fund North Korea’s nuclear weapons program.
4️⃣ Partial Recovery Efforts – Security firms have managed to freeze a small portion of the stolen funds, but the majority remains in circulation, with new laundering attempts still ongoing.
Another day, another billion-dollar hack. And people still think keeping funds on CEXs is safe? 🤡
Bybit’s team got social engineered—not hacked. That’s the scary part.
This wasn’t some genius coder breaking into systems.
It was human error, trust misplaced, and a massive exploit in centralized custody.
If your assets aren’t in your wallet, they aren’t yours. Period.
8/ What’s the lesson here?
If billion-dollar companies can be compromised, nobody is immune.
Hackers aren’t just after crypto—they’re after anything of value. The best defense? Self-custody, security awareness, and decentralization.
🚨 Stay informed. Stay cautious. Stay in control. 🚨

🚨 Bybit just got hacked for over $1 BILLION! 🚨
Not because of some smart contract bug.
Not because of a code exploit.
They didn’t hack the system—they hacked the people.
This is one of the biggest crypto heists in history.
Let’s break it down & talk about why self-custody and decentralization matter now more than ever. 🧵👇
7/ How to stay ahead of hackers:
Cold storage or nothing – If it touches the internet, it’s vulnerable.
Verify everything – Never sign blind transactions.
Spread your risk – Don’t keep all your assets in one place.
Secure your keys – Use hardware wallets. No exceptions.
Assume you’re a target – Stay paranoid.
