really enjoying the little @threejs golden age we're in, but I find raw prompting against a <canvas> super tedious
so: I added a three.js adapter to popmelt so I can tag objects right inside the scene and chat with sol about them directly. MUCH more fun to play in 3d when I can touch and talk at the same time
also added omp support because seemingly everyone's using it and I got curious (it's okay! diehards: would love to know how it changed your life)
It *looks* like this div is rotating, but that's just an optical illusion! In reality the entire universe is rotating around it, per the diviocentric model we now know to be true
I still don't know what to call this ui pattern I made for @Popmelt. Steering wheel? Omnidial? It's kind of like a command palette, but that doesn't really capture the ~feel~...
Popmelt hit 10k this morning! If you've given it a try: thank you
In the 6mo I've spent building it, I've gotten more optimistic about the future. There's plenty of room for humans + AI to do meaningful work together if we design for our respective strengths
More on ~that~ soon
@getpopmelt In the last couple of weeks this has gone from weekend toy to evening experiment to daily driver on real design and product engineer work. The feedback loop is so tight and the outcome of every cycle is production code.
MUCH left to do, but it's crystalizing fast!
@getpopmelt 0.6.0 is out now, BUNCH of new stuff:
+ Multi-page threading - let's you batch feedback across flows
+ Design token registry in the Model panel - color, type, radii, and anything else your app is using
+ Improved Vite and Astro plugins - dramatically better first-runs in new projects
+ Tons of quality-of-life improvements - in-thread thumbnails, off-screen annotation hints with click-to-scroll, app-wide annotation cycling, smarter thread deduping... lots of nitty ~feel~ tweaks
codex-5.3-spark support is live in @getpopmelt now, plus a few qol enhancements in the hand tool (fans of manual zhuzhing will be pleased): https://t.co/Q1tUPeuuON
Cannot say enough about how wild it feels to fire off UI comments one after another and watch the spark swarm tackle each one in ~20s.
I have a feeling we'll be dictating UI verbally and watching it mutate in realtime by the end of the year
btw you can use this now and it's free https://t.co/Q1tUPeuuON
Kinda like Figma + Codex/Superset/Conductor/[insert AI orchestrator], except it happens in the browser on top of your project, not in a terminal or some siloed UI builder. Uses your local AI CLIs, I'm running it on Claude and Codex (depending on what I'm up to).
If you build UI with AI and find yourself constantly flipping between chats and browser previews passing feedback, you'll like this.
