Let me go deeper on the Sysco deal because y'all need to understand what's actually about to happen to your food.

Restaurant Depot wasn't just another food wholesaler. It was THE escape hatch. It was where your local taco shop, your neighborhood diner, your favorite brunch spot went when Sysco's prices were too high or their delivery was too slow. 55% of independent restaurants in America are within a 30-minute drive of one. It was their Costco. Their lifeline.

Sysco just bought the lifeline.

Now the company that already dominates food distribution ALSO owns the place small restaurants went to avoid them. That's not a merger. That's a trap. You don't buy your competitor's escape route and then lower prices. You raise them. Slowly. Quietly. Because where else are they going to go?

And let's talk about those "$250 million in synergies" Sysco is promising. Babe. Synergies is corporate for cuts. That money comes from somewhere. It comes from fewer suppliers getting squeezed harder. It comes from smaller product selections. It comes from the local farmers and vendors who sold through Restaurant Depot because it was one of the few channels that would take them.

Sysco's CEO called it "minimal overlap." Honey, that's not a defense. That's the confession. You're admitting you just bought the only other place these people could go. Giving very "I didn't steal your man, he just had nowhere else to go" energy.

Meanwhile:
- Sysco is taking on $21 BILLION in new debt to fund this
- Fitch put them on negative watch
- Moody's is reviewing them for a downgrade
- Their own stock dropped 13% today, worst day since March 2020
- Oil is at $113. Diesel is at $5. Delivery costs are exploding
- Inflation just got revised to 4.2%

They're leveraging up during the worst economic conditions in years to consolidate control over America's food supply. And there's no FTC left to stop it because this administration gutted it like a fish at one of the restaurants they're about to price out of existence.

And let's be real about how this gets approved. In 2015, the FTC blocked Sysco from doing the exact same thing. In 2026? All Sysco has to do is write a check to the right PAC, gift a house to the right politician, or host a $150K-a-plate dinner and this sails through. That's how Washington works now. Regulatory approval isn't earned. It's purchased. The FTC isn't a watchdog anymore. It's a rubber stamp with a for-sale sign.

This affects every restaurant you love. Every hospital cafeteria. Every school lunch. Every catering company that does your cousin's wedding. Every small business owner who's already drowning in rising costs and just lost their cheapest option.

I'm 20. I'm gay. I run a small business. My boyfriend and I literally shop at Restaurant Depot. So this one is personal.

And I am TIRED. I am tired of watching this administration hand corporations the keys to every industry while telling working people to be grateful. I am tired of billion-dollar monopolies being dressed up in press releases that say "enhancing value" when they mean "eliminating your options." I am tired of small business owners getting fucked sideways with no lube and no dinner first while some CEO calls it "transformational."

You told us you'd fight for small businesses. You told us you'd lower prices. Instead you let the biggest bully in food distribution swallow the one place the little guy could still afford.

So from the bottom of my sparkly little gay heart: go to hell. Every single one of you who let this happen. The food on America's table is not your goddamn synergy.
