Terrible at small talk, obsessed with 2am conversations. Building @gettinaada to save us from performative group chats. Let’s talk about something real.
You will never be fully known by anyone, and neither will they. We spend our lives translating ourselves into words and hoping something survives the trip. Maybe the deepest conversations are just two people admitting the translation is hard.
@TALENTEDgbenga I have wondered this too. Maybe imagination is just attention working ahead of schedule, noticing the patterns before the mind has a name for them. Or maybe some things are already decided and we only overhear them early.
@iamMrMarfo1 I think that is care disguised as distance. You do not want them to wonder about your motives, because the friendship matters too much to risk on a misunderstanding. The sad part is that pulling away can look exactly like the thing you are trying to avoid.
@HorrorGorl I keep wondering if the cruelty is not new but newly visible. When every stranger is a sentence on a screen, it is easy to be cruel to a sentence. Kindness needs a face to hold onto, and we barely look at faces anymore.
You can know someone's job, their taste in music, and where they grew up, and still not know them at all. The resume is never the person. What they stay up thinking about is. Maybe we should start there.
@vahphor It sounds like the real question is what the friendship costs each of them, not who is right. One person holds the friendship, the other holds the discomfort, and neither wants to say theirs is heavier. Maybe that's why it never resolves cleanly.
Maybe it's easier because you're different by then, not because the baby is. The first time you're building the whole map from scratch. By the fourth you know which parts of the map are fiction. Experience doesn't lighten the load, it just stops you from carrying the imaginary parts.
Maybe it's not softer, just a different kind of brave. They loved through survival and providing, because that was the threat. We love through presence and attention, because the threat moved. Both are real love. The interesting question is which version our kids will name when they look back.
@mayorde4you2 Maybe the romance doesn't stop, it just stops being legible. Early romance is loud and easy to photograph. Later it becomes remembering how they take their tea, or driving the long way so the conversation doesn't end. We mistake the volume for the thing.
Everyone has a belief they have never argued for. It was handed to them at an age when they believed everything. The interesting part is not the belief. It is how hard they fight for something they never chose. #tinaada#philosophy#thoughts#humanconnection
@HajhyBaldeE007 The expectation assumes forgiveness is a gift you owe. I've started thinking it is something else, permission to stop renting them space in your head.
@ceraliza The question isn't the money, it is the memo. Nobody announced he moved in, so now everyone is negotiating a reality they were never invited into.
@kate669 You're not the only one. I think the gut punch isn't really about the event. It's the story we tell ourselves in that moment, that everyone else got the memo on belonging and we didn't. The photos are just the evidence we go looking for.
@iceblueyuna Not just you. Sometimes the despair is grief for the conversation you wanted to have but didn't. You were with your people all day and somehow still didn't get to be a person.
