Ministry of Education conducts activity assessment meeting
The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Adi-Halo Human Resources Office, conducted an activity assessment meeting on the progress of pre-education services for 2025/2026 from 23 to 25 June at the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers Hall.
The meeting was attended by the Governors of the six regions of the country, heads and representatives of ministries, partners, as well as invited guests.
Indicating the substantial investment made by the EPLF during the armed struggle for independence and by the Government of Eritrea after independence in the education sector, Ambassador Abdella Musa, Minister of Local Government, commended the initiative to establish pre-schools in all villages across the country. He also reminded administrations at all levels of their responsibility in the effort.
Dr. Halima Mohammed, Minister of Education, on her part, noted that the policy of the Ministry of Education to provide equal access to education is a central pillar in the journey to ensure social justice. She also said that, in Eritrea, basic education is a free and obligatory citizenship right.
Noting that, as part of the program initiated at the national level to expand pre-education opportunities, pre-schools have been established in all villages and training programs have been organized for about six thousand female pre-school teachers, Dr. Halima said that the successful program has been implemented through the coordination of Adi-Halo Human Resources Office and the involvement of other partner institutions.
Heads of education branches in the regions also provided reports regarding the progress of pre-education in general, and the construction of new pre-schools and renovation of existing ones in particular, in terms of the success registered and the experience gained.
The participants conducted extensive discussions on the reports presented, as well as on the activity programs for 2026/2027.
A Mother’s Legacy
She never asked history to remember her.
She simply lived with grace.
In quiet dignity,
with unwavering faith,
she raised a son whose life became woven into the story of a nation.
While the world remembers leaders,
today we remember the mother
whose love, sacrifice, and example helped shape one.
Her greatness was not found in speeches,
nor in monuments of stone,
but in the character she nurtured,
the values she lived,
and the humility she carried for almost a century.
She made decency look effortless.
She made modesty look powerful.
She made motherhood look sacred.
In her, the world catches a glimpse
of the quiet strength so often celebrated in Eritrean womanhood—
resilient in hardship,
steadfast in faith,
rich in compassion,
and generous without seeking recognition.
Today, Eritrea bids farewell
not only to the mother of a national figure,
but to a woman whose life reminds us
that behind every chapter of history
there are mothers whose names may be spoken softly,
yet whose influence echoes through generations.
May her memory remain a blessing.
May her example continue to inspire.
And may her legacy live on
where all true greatness begins—
in the heart of a mother.
"The biggest enemy of the people of Tigray is Me and my comrades" said Getachew Reda in 2017 . Nobody disagrees with this statement, and this is before he became turncoat & put #Tigray in a wretched predicament. Shameless! He is a poster boy for political prostitution #Ethiopia
AlJazeera - Ethiopia is not being ‘dragged into war';
by Mr. Ali Ibrahim Ahmed, #Eritrea's Ambassador to Qatar
*"... The recent opinion article by senior Ethiopian officials Redwan Hussein and Getachew Reda, published on Al Jazeera English’s website, attempts to portray Ethiopia as an innocent victim being reluctantly 'dragged' into conflict by external actors. In doing so, the piece seeks to absolve the ruling Prosperity Party of responsibility for Ethiopia’s mounting domestic crises".
*"...More dangerously, this narrative serves as a diplomatic smoke screen designed to normalize the unprovoked hostility, state-sponsored inflammatory rhetoric and aggressive military mobilizations that the Ethiopian government has directed towards Eritrea since late 2023".
*"...This coordinated campaign seeks to normalize the idea that colonial boundaries in the Horn of Africa are negotiable in order to attempt to challenge inviolable principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity that have long underpinned regional stability".
*"...The broader pattern extends beyond Eritrea. Ethiopia’s recent foreign policy conduct has increasingly generated tensions with several neighboring states. The Memorandum of Understanding signed with Somaliland, which sought access to coastal territory without the consent of Somalia’s central government, triggered a major diplomatic crisis and raised serious questions regarding respect for established principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity".
*"...Similarly, Ethiopia has repeatedly pursued interventionist policies in neighboring conflicts in the quest for short-term geopolitical objectives. Whether in Somalia, Sudan or elsewhere, Addis Ababa’s reckless regional agenda of expansionism has contributed significantly to regional mistrust and destabilization".

Who is my brother? Who is my sister?
Any Eritrean patriot is my brother. Any Eritrean patriot is my sister. They do not have to worship the same God. They do not have to speak the same language. They do not have to be born of the same region. They do not need to look like me or sound like me. All they have to do is value the entire Eritrean national fabric above all else. Above religion, region, ideology, and any other consideration. Any other conception of your national identity is counterproductive and a big reason why we are where we are today.
Eritrea is a country of nine ethnic groups living in harmony. In Eritrea, “Unity in Diversity” is a basic principle of nation-building and national development efforts. Despite our differences and through our historical experiences Eritrea’s diverse groups voluntarily agreed to unite as one nation. Eritrea has achieved national unity and national identity. However, this cannot be taken for granted. It needs continuous attention and efforts to strengthen and improve its substance. In order to give sustenance to Eritrea’s national unity and identity, we must continue to combat divisive tendencies that may emerge in various forms.

Blessed is the womb that gave so much to Eritrea. Rest in peace, Mama Adanesh Berhe—a heroic matriarch who raised 14 children, sending 9 to the liberation struggle and sacrificing two for our nation's independence. My deepest, most heartfelt condolences go out to H.E. President Isaias Afwerki, the entire family, and the people of Eritrea. May they find strength in her incredible legacy.
Eritrea is truly anchored by a generation of mothers who bore immense sacrifices in silence. What makes our nation exceptional is that our leadership and the first family lead by example—they do not live above the people, but rather with the people. The President and his family live simply among the public as everyday citizens, without special privilege, leverage, or pretense.
It is this shared humility and dedication to the common citizen that defines the Eritrean spirit. May the world always recognize this truth about the humility at the heart of our nation. Rest in eternal peace, Adey Adanesh. 🇪🇷🙏🏽 #Eritrea

After liberation, #Eritrea faced the challenge of transitioning from war to peace. Thousands of fighters had to be reintegrated into civilian life, while the country itself needed to be built from the ground up. National service became a way to organize this transition—to build human capacity while maintaining readiness. ይርዳእኩም!

🕯️ SHE'EB MASSACRE A Wound That Time Cannot Erase
📍 She'eb, Eritrea
📅 12 May 1988
The sands of She'eb bear witness to one of the darkest chapters in Eritrea's history. Innocent men, women, and children were massacred, but their sacrifice became part of the price paid for freedom.
Though the victims were silenced, their memory speaks across generations. Eritrea remembers. Eritrea honors. Eritrea will never forget.
Glory to Eritrea's Martyrs. Eternal Memory to the Victims of She'eb.

In honor of Martyrs Day, over 1,300 members of the Sawa National Service Training Center carried out a vibrant popular campaign at the Martyrs Cemetery. They renovated the compound, planted trees, and conducted environmental sanitation — a powerful expression of gratitude and renewed pledge to live up to the sacrifices of our fallen heroes. Activities like these, taking place across Eritrea and the diaspora, show the enduring spirit of our people. #Eritrea

Eritrea’s National Service is once again being politicized by certain quarters. The facts remain clear: Eritrea has implemented major demobilization programs, National Service is limited to 18 months by law, & the country’s security realities have influenced its defense policies.
