I know I’m not the only one who feels this way, but I am so very proud of our firefighters, police officers, dispatchers and EMS providers. Right now you’re needed more than ever and as always you’ve stepped up to the challenge. Thank you & God Bless! #honor #duty #dedication

On the scene of a fire in #Gulfport. Working to gather more details.

[Alison Spann @newsgirlalison]

Gulfport Fire Chief tells us one of his firefighters fell off of the roof while fighting this house fire. He was conscious when medics arrived and was transported to Memorial Hospital. Fall was approx 10 ft.

[Alison Spann @newsgirlalison]

Fire itself is contained. Cause is still under investigation, but preliminary observation points to an attic fire via the chimney. Damage is mostly contained to the living room and attic.

Thinking of all the first responders today on #NationalFirstResponderDay.

A big thanks to those of you who are first to the scenes, especially when wildfires, like those in California, start. #OnlyYou

Timeless fire service advice:

Fast water on a fire can save the most lives & most property & decrease the chances of a firefighter getting killed or injured.

If we’re not correctly & frequently training on the above, we’re letting down those expecting us to do our job.

“You can never train too much for a job that can kill you.”

Separate sleeping areas, Smart phones and Laptops are creating serious isolation issues in Firehouses. Members no longer seek the traditional common area to communicate with one another. Instead they are cultivating an imaginary environment

Trivia from the New York City Fire Museum, the Halligan Tool, one of the most versatile and well-known forcible entry tools used by Firefighters, was designed by FDNY Chief Hugh Halligan. Visit this link for more info: https://t.co/4Vb46OJPk5
