@LonzenRugira So much has changed since that paper was written, but that hasn’t. Now we face a situation where, whoever loses that war, which is *partly* a conflict between Eritrea and Ethiopia, will also lose parts of its territory.
President John Dramani Mahama has called for a fundamental shift in how Africa approaches healthcare, urging the continent to treat health as an investable economic sector rather than a budgetary cost.
Addressing the Health Plenary of the Alamein Africa Forum in Egypt, President Mahama advocated increased investment in local pharmaceutical manufacturing, regional value chains and health innovation to strengthen Africa’s health sovereignty, create high-value jobs and reduce dependence on imported medicines and vaccines.
He highlighted Ghana’s Reset agenda, including the expansion of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Free Primary Health Care, the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, and efforts to strengthen domestic capacity in the production of health products.
President Mahama also called on governments, financiers, regulators and industrial leaders to work together to build resilient African health industries and secure the continent’s health and economic future.

What did Uju Anya say that is worse than this from a sitting President of the United States? I hope you know that those hounding Uju today and pretending to have suddenly realized where to draw the line, the same people influencing you to say this, including the owner of this app, all supported Trump when he threatened to wipe out “a whole civilization.”
Regardless of how anyone feels about Uju Anya, it will be f00lish to join those who are hounding her, because this is white supremacy doing what white supremacy does - provoke you into a reaction, then use that reaction to score cheap far-right political points. The mistake you will make is allowing these folks to exercise moral authority over you.
How many of them who “crossed the line” with Epstein have been punished?
Lviv, 1941.
A young Jewish woman sits on the pavement, stripped naked, surrounded by a hostile crowd.
She tries to cover herself with her hands; her clothes lie discarded beside her. People stand and watch. One person reaches down toward her head as she looks directly into the lens.
Look at her face.
There is fear, shock, and profound humiliation. But beneath the cruelty surrounding her, there is something immutable:
her fundamental humanity.
She had a name.
A family.
A home.
People who loved her.
A future she was never allowed to claim.
The image was captured on 8mm film by German personnel. Later discovered by U.S. forces in an SS barracks in Augsburg, the footage is now preserved in Holocaust archives—a permanent record of an atrocity that was meant to be forgotten.
Before the Holocaust, more than 200,000 Jews called Lviv home. Under Nazi occupation, that community was systematically persecuted, deported, and murdered. Only a fraction survived.
During the 1941 pogroms, Jewish men, women, and children were targeted relentlessly, with women subjected to targeted, public degradation.
This photograph captures more than physical violence. It captures the mechanics of dehumanization—the deliberate, witnessed destruction of a human being's dignity.
We may never learn this woman’s name.
We may never know her final moments.
But by looking at her face, we refuse the ultimate aim of her tormentors: to erase her from memory.
We remember that she was someone.
The Africa Mindset Reset Forum closed in #Kigali.
#AfCFTA SG H.E. @MeneWamkele at the closing session: a mindset reset is worth little if it stops at inspiration.
It demands coordinated leadership, disciplined implementation, and follow-through across institutions and generations.

L’Africa Mindset Reset Forum s’est achevé à #Kigali.

LandSpace's Zhuque-3 lifted off from northwest China on August 19, 2026, delivered the Honghu-03 satellite to orbit and then flew its first stage roughly 390 km downrange to a landing pad, touching down on four legs. It is China's first booster recovery on land, and it comes only six weeks after a state-built Long March 10B was snagged in a net on a ship at sea. The catch is that Zhuque-3's own first flight in December ended with the booster crashing beside the pad.
It’s time for an Africa Mindset Reset
I’m honored to serve with the team leading the organising efforts for the Africa Mindset Reset Forum: From Pan-Africanism to Meta-Africanism.
For decades Africa’s story has been told through deficits. Aid. Dependency. Crisis.
The knowledge product we’re building for the Forum makes one thing clear: the real constraint has never been resources. It’s been mindset.
It’s time for an Africa Mindset Reset
3 truths driving this Reset:
1. Belief: Africa must own its narrative. We are not a problem to be solved. We are the solution the world needs.
2. African Multilateralism: Silos are killing us. Government, private sector, young innovators must build together, across borders - The Meta-Africanism we are arguing for.
3. Execution: Ideas are not enough. We need systems, financing, and execution to turn African solutions into African prosperity.
In Kigali on 25-26 August 2026, we move from conversation to execution. And we’re doing it with the leaders already shifting mindsets across the continent:
Day 1: Igniting African Multilateralism & Accelerating the continent’s Integration
- H.E. Thabo Mbeki, Former President of South Africa — Keynote on moving _From Pan-Africanism to Meta-Africanism_: home-grown solutions, sovereign stewardship of our natural resources, and creating dignified work opportunities for young Africans
- H.E. Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda & Co-Founder of ASG; H.E. John Dramani Mahama*, President of Ghana; H.E. Hailemariam Dessalegn Boshe, Former PM of Ethiopia — Deep-dive on turning Pan-African aspiration into Meta-African action
- Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, President, African Development Bank — On financing Africa’s Reset: African-led development finance, AfCFTA, and financial sovereignty
- H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, Former President of Nigeria; H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General, AfCFTA Secretariat — Intergenerational Dialogue on institutions, execution, and integrated markets.
Day 2: Sovereign Stewardship of the continent’s Natural Resources & Human Capital
- Acha Leke, Chairman for Africa, McKinsey & Co. — Keynote on mindsets for sovereign natural resource stewardship and human capital development
- Dr. Doris Uwicyeza Picard*, CEO, Rwanda Governance Board — Rwanda’s Community Based Health Insurance as home-grown mindset shift
- Ms. Zouera Yussoufou, CEO, Aliko Dangote Foundation — On Dangote’s philanthropy to expand opportunity across Africa.
- H.E. Dr. Ibrahim Mayaki, Former PM of Niger — Africa Food Security & Trade Initiative.
- Ms. Clare Akamanzi*, CEO, NBA Africa — _Sports is Big Business, but mindset is the constraint_
- Ms. Moky Makura, Executive Director, Africa No Filter — Reframing Africa’s narrative.
We’re also spotlighting PanAfrica mandated institutions led - e.g. Visa openness, sovereign credit rating agency, open skies initiative, as well as youth-led mindset shifting initiatives and closing with concrete commitments from leaders to ensure this reset lives beyond the Forum.
This Forum is intergenerational by design. At least 80% of participants are young and emerging leaders, and they are speakers in every session. Because the reset must be owned by the generation building Africa’s next 50 years.
Thank you all for your attention and the reset starts with us, and it starts now.
If you believe Africa’s future will be written by Africans, let’s connect. Let’s build it. https://t.co/y8HH8b9lSa

Accra, 7 July 2026. Asked on @GTV_Ghana 's BREAKFAST show about the xenophobic violence in South Africa, AfCFTA Secretary-General H.E. Wamkele Mene did not reach for diplomatic softening:
“I am deeply embarrassed by the actions we have witnessed in South Africa, and I bow my head in shame.”
He recalled that many African countries contributed to the freedom South Africa enjoys today; that protecting the dignity and human rights of everyone — documented or undocumented — is the responsibility of the South African government; and that the ringleaders behind these attacks must be identified and brought to justice.
Xenophobia, he stated, is incompatible with the very idea of the single market the continent is working to build.

"Boy Genius Heads UN General Assembly."
That was the headline. September 1979.
The boy genius was Tanzanian.
At 37, Salim Ahmed Salim became the first African ever to preside over the UN General Assembly.
Not a seat at the table, the chair at the head of it.

In Born in Blackness, Howard W. French argues that many histories of the modern world begin with Europe and treat Africa as a side story. He says this is a mistake because Africa, Africans, and African resources played a central role in shaping the modern global economy long before the colonial era.
When he wrote, "It would be unusual for a story that begins in the wrong place to arrive at the right conclusions," he is saying that if historians ignore Africa's role from the beginning, their conclusions about how the modern world was built will likely be incomplete or wrong.
In simple terms:
If you start the story incorrectly, you will probably understand the ending incorrectly too.
