Hey, Tweeps! It seems a bunch of us are headed over to https://t.co/wA409XKcQW so I went and created an account there this morning. We'll see which app I open more often.

@AnttiSavolaine @Collabora@VulkanAPI That's for @Plagman2 and the Valve team to determine. The Nouveau stack isn't quite as good as the AMD/RADV stack yet but this is another piece of the puzzle for sure.
At the moment, though, I think the Valve team is more focused on the steam deck than trying to make a distro.

Mesaโs New NVK Open-Source Vulkan Graphics Driver for #NVIDIA GPUs Is Now Ready for Prime Time and Vulkan 1.3 Conformant https://t.co/LJ9CATsTBa

It's been a long time coming (okay, not that long, really) but NVK is now ready for prime time. You can expect to see NVK show up in your favorite distro some time this year.
#NVK is now ready for prime time! The merge request has landed, the non-conformant implementation warnings are gone & NVK is coming to your favorite #Linux distro! Here's the latest from @gfxstrand: https://t.co/lpUshHfdXB

@trevordblack Yeah, performance is still a work in progress. Most of my effort so far has gone into building a solid baseline. Now that we have that, the performance analysis can commence in full force.

@CEOofFuggy@Collabora@discomfitor I have no idea about Hyperland in particular. If it's breaking on RADV, I'd recommend filing a bug at https://t.co/BBZXf7hojt
@CEOofFuggy@Collabora If you're referring to the The Great Gaming Bug Of โ24 (thanks, @discomfitor ๐ ), we just fixed that.
Don't worry, we won't force anyone on to NVK+Zink until we're pretty sure that it's overall at least as good as the nouveau GL driver (not that high a bar, TBH).
๐ข New blog post! ๐ As 2023 draws to a close, @gfxstrand gives an update on #NVK, the open-source @VulkanAPI driver for #NVIDIA hardware in Mesa. Geared towards users, this update looks at what we've acheived & where we'll be headed in 2024. https://t.co/5taMhKDbuQ #OpenSource
๐ข New blog post!๐One of the key high-level challenges of building Mesa drivers these days is figuring out how to best share code between a @VulkanAPI driver and a Gallium driver. @gfxstrand explains how: https://t.co/bS2LBATyqT #NVK
@LinuxMostly@Plagman2@Collabora The other big help has been from @RedHat who employs the nouveau kernel maintainers. They're who we have to thank for the new userspace API required by NVK as well as GSP firmware support which finally gets us proper power-management support on Turing and later GPUs.
@LinuxMostly@Plagman2@Collabora One of the Valve ray-tracing guys has started reverse-engineer NVIDIA's ray-tracing and has made some decent progress there, thought it's going to be quite a while before anything lands there.
@Plagman2 Given that I'm about to go on holiday, I don't know that "weeks" is a wise bet. However, it's probably not long. Some stuff is already doing fairly well depending on your GPU. 60-90 FPS gaming is definitely possible today.
