MLB announces that Payton Tolle will serve as one of three World Series Correspondents. He will appear on MLB Network, produce content for MLB's social channels and offer player perspective on the matchup.
Couldn't imagine a better choice for that role.
Bat speed = damage.
81.1 MPH on a 97.4 MPH fastball. Not as squared up as Ohtani's monster nuke, but more than enough.
8 of the 9 fastest swings tonight belong to the Brew Crew. Mitchell + Chourio turn fast!
Acquire a bat and don’t let the worst player in the sport get the second most plate appearances on the team. Very simple recipe for significant improvement
The Red Sox have the most prospects on this list with 19. That’s not by coincidence as adding velocity is one of the key areas of emphasis in their pitching development program.
This report is inaccurate for several reasons.
1) I never worked in Player Development for Boston.
2) My job over 2.5 years was to build the Baseball Sciences department and to advise Breslow mainly on R&D initiatives.
3) Only reason I'm not in Boston anymore is due to working for an ownership group in NPB which is a conflict of interest of continuing work in MLB; wasn't possible to do both (sadly).
I still support the Red Sox and Craig's vision for the organization.

While at rookie-ball, Josue Brito showed a profile that generated airborne contact with ease. He’d post above average EVs, and find the barrel consistently. This resulted in six of his eight home runs being hit at the level.
Still young, the swing decisions could use an improvement but they should mature over time. He managed to walk at an 18.1% clip despite struggling in the swing-and-miss department.

Again when I said this team’s offseason needs were abundantly clear last night, this is what I’m talking about.
You need thump. You need to improve your overall QoC, especially vs. velo (notably against RHPs) like @ChrisCoop_ highlighted below. You need to improve the swing-and-miss margin.
Imperative you make a few lineup optimizations.
Ok now I can officially tweet about some of the stats I found interesting coming into this series without fear of a jinx lol
🔹The Boston Red Sox have the fewest barrels against right handed 97+ mph pitches in the league. Only 10 recorded barrels this season.
Against right handed 97+mph:
AVG: 30th
xAVG: 28th
SLG: 30th
xSLG: 30th
wOBA: 26th
xwOBA: 22nd
With a Whiff% of 26.4%, tied for 27th worst.
So the worst Quality of Contact and some of the worst swing/miss against right handed velo.
