@byMorganWright I think the working theory is that it is some sort of commentary on the cryptocurrency Dogecoin. Not sure if it actually is or not. I only saw an article stating that Dogecoin's value shot up after the change. So... conspiracy theory cryptocurrency manipulation perhaps?

@BlueOpossum You use the subjunctive mood in conditionals, wishes, or things contrary to fact. Another example that might sound better to your ears: "Were he not a miser, he would donate to charity." Here you have a subjunctive "he were" that would sound wrong if you used "was."
