@MattWalshBlog Indigenous people were doing fine with the crocodiles and dinner-plate spiders until Britain claimed them as a penal colony. Imagine you’re living on a farm minding your own business and then a global power sends their prisoners onto your land. There’s a reason to apologize.
@CJVogel_OTF UT gonna tell season ticket holders you’re losing a home game because Tech wants to make money and get attention playing a top 10 school in Lubbock or a neutral site? A double dog dare is not a reason to do something dumb and impossible at this stage of season planning.
@envconsult53516@ElijahSchaffer Smith County won’t put forth a Dem candidate in my lifetime. It’s Smith County… My experience with D1 courts in TX is making money for patent trolls. My experience connecting with younger folks trying to make Tyler better comes from places like The Foundry and Stanley’s.
@envconsult53516@ElijahSchaffer Smith County is the voting block and includes places like Whitehouse and Lindale (shoutout Pat and Miranda). As I said, there is an abundance of folks outside of town who would agree with the original sentiment but it’s far from an accurate picture of Tyler.
@envconsult53516@ElijahSchaffer But that wasn’t even my point, which was that so much has changed there and the current surge in growth and economic development relies upon people who don’t want to be another boring, forgettable, white bread ETX community.
@envconsult53516@ElijahSchaffer Tyler held a segregated culture longer than anywhere I’ve seen living in TX my whole life. The high school was the Robert E Lee Rebels with the rebel flag as a logo well past desegregation as a clear FU to Cujo - the poorer high school that kicked ass in football.
@envconsult53516@ElijahSchaffer I grew up in Gresham which is exactly as described and also very boring. Spent early adulthood living on the brick streets going to UTT and found lots of cool, different kinds of people even somewhere like ETX. N Tyler struggles bc of the legacy of segregation and red lining.
@MrCArmstrong@financedystop lol it’s impossible to grow up here and not be very familiar with kolaches. And Texas toast isn’t even really a breakfast thing, necessarily. And to list those and not mention breakfast tacos… maybe you’re from here but this reads like someone who has seen Texas in movies.
@mavericksdigest If there's evidence to suggest Bill Gates or Bill Clinton could be guilty, charge them and put them on trial. If you can prove it, lock them up. The same principle should be applied to everyone. It's not that complicated.
@mavericksdigest I think the difference is one side has sacred cows who show up thousands of times in the files that they will still defend, while another side is saying anyone implicated should face justice. I haven't seen a single Dem trying to defend the Clintons. There's no blind loyalty.
