@davidfrum My issue with this is your assumption that education is the same thing as subject matter knowledge. It's not. Knowledge can be easily looked up on Wikipedia. Education is an experience that fosters a lifelong thirst for knowledge. But you're right that not everyone wants that.

Usually my neighborhood is safe, but I'm hearing a lot of gunfire tonight. Might be a border dispute because my neighborhood straddles the city limits - city vs. county jurisdiction. The skirmish is far enough from my house that I feel safe, but it's loud.

It's weird that I'm kind of an expert on audio but still have no idea why it's necessary for music to be so much louder than dialogue in movies. And Hulu still does that thing with loud commercials. I'm expert enough to know it's not necessary, but not enough to understand why.

I think it's cute that craft breweries make up clever names for their beers, but I suspect it's an inside joke allowing brewery employees to laugh at how awkwardly we say those clever names when ordering.
