The goalless draw peaked at 15.4 million viewers across BBC One and iPlayer which is more than any previous World Cup broadcast from the corporation.
๐จ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ Declan Rice: "It's always difficult when you play against 11 behind the ball. Give credit to Ghana, they were very compact. It was tough. They are good players." (BBC)
Before every World Cup, there is a conversation around why African teams sort of โunderperformโ and what notโฆ all well and good but how do expect a team to perform when the calls are as bias as they were last night.
Konsa tripped Adu (thatโs a penalty) and that Pickford tackle on Adu again was a red. He just lunged into the striker. No attempt to clear the ball whatsoever. All comfortably overlooked - VAR didnโt even bother to check. Not to talk of all the 50-50 challenges that were called as fouls for England.
Maybe the conversation should be about the poor officiating some teams have to endure at the expense of others.
Iโm not a fan of whataboutery but if any of those incidents had been on an English player, theyโd have been given. Terrible.
4 - Ghana are one of only four teams yet to concede a goal at the 2026 World Cup:
