@cadthesilent PhD means you've gone beyond the realm of mastering the art, you've started improving the art, building on it, taking it further. I think that is quite fitting to the whole PhD concept.
@Aaronontheweb I've fallen into this same trap when I started out as a developer. Licensing is confusing for most and the whole "do as you please" vs "contribute back" summary websites don't help much. Bootcamps and universities should really start adding licensing to their curriculum.
Some people won't ever get it, will they? Computers already play chess better than virtually any human; but, as we speak, there's a sea of smiling nerds out there having the time of their lives playing their 775th game of the year.
@0xdoug This explains the random attempts to just commit code it just wrote without ever being instructed to do so. Experienced this quite lot to the point where I have to explicitly instruct it not to ever auto commit in the Claude.md.
Microsoft / GitHub injecting ads into CoPilot generated PRs: welcome to the future! https://t.co/AAydAyTYJU
(yes, this was a confirmed "feature" from someone on the CoPilot team; apparently they are disabling it after backlash)
When I was in high school, one of my friends credited a book he read with the saying, "Give 'em an inch, they'll take a mile. Take away their inch, and all they want is their inch back."
It's one of my favorite sayings, but I can't remember what the book was. Anyone know?
@James_M_South Stage files between prompts. I've found this to be "best" when trying to figure out what changed and stop deletions of stuff I want to keep. Thankfully haven't experienced this, but too many auto-deletion stories to not try to guard against these sorts of things.
Today an AI-generated PR hit raylib repo, addressing a high-vulnerability security concern. 🔥
Interesting to see that it addresses a highly-improbable potential issue on a side tool that NOBODY actually uses, only me to generate some XML data for Notepad++ raylib intellisense. Oh, and **it BREAKS the PROGRAM** on my main working platform, Windows. Lovely. 😣
Definitely something to think about. 🤔
