One silver lining of this whole fiasco is it's made it crystal clear which big name leftist pundits, personalities, etc have no actual principles and just exist as soulless parasites cashing in on people desperate for real revolutionary change.
Soulless lib shills rushing to dunk on the left over this is the worst because now the whole discourse is just gonna become pointing out (correctly) that they're hypocrites instead of any sort of introspection over how supporting a goddamn blackwater merc led us here.
When his known victims were only Iraqis & Afghans, Vigeland accused his critics of “censorious, hall monitor liberalism that refuses to accept growth in people” and “white guy bad” posturing that’s “more of a threat to the Dems’ chances than anything dug up on Platner”…
@verviticus I mean, I always want the lesser of two evils to win if that's truly what it's come down to. Better to put our efforts towards making sure it doesn't tho.
Tremendously embarrassing that anyone on the left is still trying to push for this guy. We're never gonna accomplish a damn thing if we keep going ride or die for every dude who spouts a few socialist talking points.
Individual politicians are disposable. You don't need to do mental gymnastics to defend them. You can just discard them at basically the first red flag and find someone else to replace them. Even if you think it might be overblown, it never NEEDS to be that exact guy.
This shit just seems like the work of a generation of profoundly isolated and lonely people and it makes me feel like Tommy Lee Jones in No Country for Old Men.
Very cool how actually engaging meaningfully with stories has become irrelevant to modern fandom and now it's just some sort of shared mass psychosis where they try to accumulate enough *data* to pretend the characters are real people existing in their day to day lives.
Granted nerds have always fixated on meaningless details but I feel like at least when old neckbeards quibble over spaceship specs it's because they're pedantic by nature and because accumulated information is how they measure dicks. It's not...whatever exactly is happening here.
I think there are legit criticisms to be made of the specific episodes that tried to "address the issues" but saying this about the other 95% of the show feels a lot like saying people "fell for" Naked Gun. Idk if u can really fall for something so overtly not portraying reality.
I guess it's not remotely surprising that seizing the means of production under capitalism by *doing capitalism* doesn't work. I'm just curious about the specific mechanisms that cause it to fail in this particular industry.
I don't fully understand the process by which companies like Microsoft "aquire" all these game studios in the first place. At least someone at these studios has to *agree* to let that happen tho, no? Surely you know you're signing your own death warrant by now.
Is that just kinda an illusion from the get go? Like, do the creatives that found/run these studios ever actually have any autonomy, or does the actual financing still come from dgaf corporate money men such that they're essentially in control?
