@gibbonposting easy mistake to make because magpies, butcherbirds (and currawongs) are in the same family ๐
your one is a grey butcherbird, they are usually more compact and have a shriller song
whereas young magpies look like scrawny, lower contrast versions of adults (mum left, baby right)
@deficitbrains exactlyโฆ iโve never been to a wedding so take anything I say with a grain of salt but iโd hope that the people you are inviting are people who love and care about you enough not to do that โน๏ธ
if you consider yourself a leftist in any meaningful way you should look into the connection between disgust sensitivity and conservatism bc once you do itโs impossible not to see how so much of the worst discourse on this app basically comes down to โi think itโs ickyโ
@orangutanluvr67 i read braiding sweetgrass recently and the author talks about how in her culture other living beings such as trees have personhood too, and i think itโs a really beautiful way of perceiving the world.
@orangutanluvr67 i think itโs a good thing. personhood tends to come with increased respect, recognition of oneโs role and value in an ecosystem, and reminds us as humans that we arenโt โaboveโ other forms of life.
@deficitbrains so true, the infighting is so ridiculous. someone needs tell this guy the terfs arenโt gonna like him more just because he thinks he is doing transgender correctly. they literally hate all of us. this is crabs in a bucket behaviour.
