3 Years ago I was driving for Uber, writing the script for @GhostsofRuintv between clients, and now we've got some of the biggest stars on the planet in our show and it's finally finished.

This is why working with A-list actors is such an amazing experience. I wrote the first draft of this scene on a napkin while I was driving for Uber, 3 years before.
In this scene, @TonyRevolori's character, Lee, is learning the ropes of fighting in Neural Reality for the first time.
@rosariodawson's character, Prism, is pissed because Lee replaced her brother. Her brother is still in a mental health hospital from the game glitching out and now she's on the eve of the world's largest tournament stuck with a casual who is only there because it's a PR stunt.
@AtkinsHarron, who plays Castle, tries to calm Prism down, but she doesn't have it.
@missnemmanuel's character, Dr. Tucci is flustered, trying to figure out what the missing bug is that could send more players into a mental health hospital if they don't find it soon.
I also love @AleXa_ZB's performance in this scene. Our show was her debut acting performance and she stole the show in so many scenes.
Our showrunner, Mike Ryan, our writer Ryan Ramsey and our Oscar nominated director, Thierry Marchant really captured the conflict here. This is one of my favorite moments in our show because it really captures the hard place that everyone is put in.
Great writing is all about characters with conflicting wants and needs forced to work together.
If you haven't seen our show yet, our first three episodes are out! They're free to watch.

Yesterday, I shared how I snuck into a billionaire's party to secure funding for my TV show, only to be GHOSTED
Here’s the one thing I did that saved Ghosts of Ruin from being ruined. (GET IT, GHOSTS OF RUIN jk jk)
(It’s a mistake that entrepreneurs make all the time)
@BitBenderBrink told me at the party to DM him on Twitter. I knew that he was interested in helping fund the show, but I had this deep fear that because he has 50K+ followers on twitter, I would just get buried in his DMs and he’d never see the message.
That’s exactly what happened. I never got a reply from him over the next few weeks.
But I had a feeling that this would happen and I took massive action to avoid it.
The next day was the final day of the conference, Gala Games had a big booth and they were there all day.
So with the last $100 in my bank account, I bought a bunch of Cuban sandwiches and bottles of water for their entire team.
I started handing them out, and for a while they thought I worked for the convention center 🤣
But I know that the fastest way to someone’s heart is through their stomach, and when you’re in Miami, Publix Cuban sandwiches hit the spot when you’ve been on your feet all day.
I talked with Carrie and Chris Roberts for over an hour about their jobs and their vision for Web3, and it was so great to meet such fantastic humans who have such a passion for the community.
I got both of their emails and did follow up with them (and anyone else’s email that I collected) over the next few weeks.
I told this story in front of 6,000 people at San Diego comic con this year, and Jason was attending with the Gala team, and he found me afterwards and said “I didn’t ghost you! 🤣 I did see your message—I just was running it up the chain with the Gala Film team and by the time I was able to reply to you, you already had a meeting set with the Film executive team.”
So let the record stand that @BitBenderBrink is awesome, and he didn’t ghost me—it just looked like it from my end 🤣. I’m so thankful for all the belief he and the team at Gala Film had in the project.
But the big takeaway from this post is that you should do your best to not leave things to chance, and be persistent with every available angle to close a partnership.
* Follow up.
* Don’t rely on just one point of contact.
* Show excitement for your project--if you’re not excited about it, then they won’t be either.
* Be nice! Be interested in who you’re talking to and what problems they have.
Your mantra should always be “We’re doing this anyway, but we’d love to do this with you”
