According to recent news reports based on U.S. official sources, the U.S. did offer Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro safe passage for himself, his wife Cilia Flores, and his son, provided he resigned and left the country immediately.

Maduro reportedly rejected this ultimatum, leading to an impasse in the talks.

During a tense phone call reportedly brokered by Brazil, Qatar, and Turkey the Trump administration delivered the direct warning, viewing it as a final effort to avoid a potential military confrontation.

Maduro's counter-demands, which included global amnesty for himself and his associates and the ability to retain control of the armed forces while allowing free elections, were rejected by Washington.

I don't think Maduro is taking the warnings from the US seriously.
