@trulyyblu Was some of the things cross said immature? Absolutely but I still cannot see how people think his words actually had an effect on marathon’s performance
@giancar73012035 But honestly I have a feeling that IS kind of what’s happening already. If destiny is getting a revival. And marathon announced moving a way from the strict seasonal schedule meaning longer times between updates. I can entirely see less devs working on it.
@Wxxld_ it’s obvious and they’ve expressed the unvaulting is purely for goodwill they don’t HAVE to do this. Destiny 2 after will be content complete and i imagine they’ll look towards what the future looks like then. Just my optics.
@ilyericc_@SKYNYRD_DSG@RayxurRayxur exactly. And the whole thing about “a child having their toy taken away” imagine that child had one toy it loved and played w daily then it got given another one and now it has 2 but it still had that 1 toy. Then the parents rip away that 1 toy unceremoniously.
@SKYNYRD_DSG@RayxurRayxur the crying you mention didn’t really start until Sony axed d2. Because most of those big Destiny creators were playing a large amount of marathon
@SKYNYRD_DSG@RayxurRayxur regardless of what the biggest d2 creators said lol marathons public perception was already rough. Bad alpha reviews, the art scandal, the game director scandal, arc raiders. I’ll say those had a bigger effect than aztecross lmaoo
@Hellen__TK@MacticsG1 Sony 100% made the full call to axe the franchise in the first place this is their back pedal. Being cautiously optimistic is the right take for this. But not recognizing that community backlash didn’t play a role is not.
@Blazmatic@bearki Because the years they were moving devs off of destiny it was arguably not in the best state. They were in the trend chasing mindset. Marathon was the new shiny toy in a hot genre. Not defending the decision everyone knows Sony and previous execs played this wrong.
@shutupfede and prove they can actually do that, then possibly get the future of the franchise green lit whatever that may be. Unless I’m mistaken I believe a few ex-destiny devs that got laid off have already been brought back. Perhaps we see more of that over the coming months. (3/3)
@shutupfede They were bleeding money bc d2 after all the years was incredibly expensive to develop and was an aged franchise. With Sonys hilarious live service failures they were playing it safe. My best guess is this is bungies last shot: new leadership, 1st priorities being gain back trust
@Blazmatic@bearki I had this convo the other day. In the new blog they explicitly state marathon was never meant to replace destiny. They’ve always meant to coexist but both sides of the community continuously cry, and shit talk the other in a cringe war.
@AmadeusTwi@wheatlyftw That condescending behavior is also from the other side aswell. One side feels the other is inferior constant back n forth. Both sides need to figure it out. Marathon could gain a much needed boost with new positivity and a good update in dec. I appreciate the mature dialogue.
@A_PrincessMarie@Cxtadel@Designatedkitty I just see it as. If you argue for wanting both the communities to get along hold the respective members of yours accountable. with some positive news marathon has the chance to get some new players in that it needs dogging on them does nothing.
@AmadeusTwi@wheatlyftw and they did naturally, we also can’t pretend marathons public perception before the EOS was perfect. Mixed alpha reviews, art scandal, game director scandal. I just see it as if the games are to coexist the communities have to do better.
@A_PrincessMarie@Cxtadel@Designatedkitty to add to this, since the announcement I’ve seen a decent amount of marathon fans hoping destiny fans “fuck off” now continuing to engage in this hilarious war between the communities.
@AmadeusTwi@wheatlyftw and did the Destiny community at the time (with obviously heightened emotions) not have theirs? I’m not trying to excuse immature behavior. But OP with their tone is not helping the situation. There’s wrong on both sides.
@Nelstar15 care to explain how exactly? I never bashed you in my original replies I was merely posting my perspective. I forget trying to engage in a nuanced discussion on the internet is near impossible nowadays.
