Starting safety Tyler Nubin was the 47th pick of the 2024 NFL Draft. He has started 24 of 34 games and has 176 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and three pass break ups.
The jury is still out on Nubin, as year three ends up being a put up or shut up season for early draft picks. He has performed OK when lined up near the line of scrimmage but his primary calling card in college was the ability to make plays on the ball in coverage after ending his college career as the all-time leader in career interceptions at Minnesota with 13.
So far, in the NFL, Nubin has yet to pick off a pass. Under the new leadership of Dennard Wilson - the team expects him to take the leap in the new scheme.
As expected - long list of tryouts for the Giants as they set out for camp.
TE/H-Back Tyler Moore and DL Marlon Davidson were signed to complete the 90-man roster.
◼️Moore played in a 12/13-heavy offense, finishing third on Iowa State in snaps among tight ends. He spent 62 snaps in the backfield as a fullback. He measured in just under 6'5 and weighed in at 254 pounds with slightly below average athletic testing (4.72 forty, 31" vertical, and 7.40 3-cone).
He made himself known with his ability to block both in-line and on the move but was not used much as a receiver (21 career catches). He also played 154 snaps on special teams over his career
◼️Davidson is a more well-known player. He was a 2nd round pick by Atlanta in 2020 (a teammate of DT Derek Brown). He is an inside-out hybrid type, one can play both the five-tech/three-tech but has played just 9 snaps since the end of the 2023 season.
He two career sacks one from the outside and the one from inside was the first of his career, a take down of Tm Brady in Tampa Bay.
48 days until NYG takes on Dallas week one
The longest tenured Giant, WR Darius Slayton, caught 48 passes his rookie season. That ranked seventh among all rookie receivers. Only Malik Nabers, Odell Beckham, and Sterling Shepard finished with more in their respective rookie seasons.
Below is a clip from Slayton's best game that season, a 154-yard (which is still a career-high), 2-touchdown performance in Eli Manning's final road start.

Correct. Facts regarding last season's 13 losses:
◼️NYG was 1-7 in one score games
◼️NYG was 1-3 in games decided by 3 or less pts
◼️NYG ranked last in extra point percentage (87.8%)
◼️NYG made 23 field goals, only four teams made less
◼️NYG made 1 field from 50+, tied for last in NFL
◼️NYG tied for the league lead in pre-snap penalties
◼️NYG led the NFL in offensive penalties on both 3rd down and in the 4th quarter
@GiantInsider@Giants I believe games can be won or lost on special teams play and penalties. That JH will clean up the special teams roster/play that has really disappointed for so long is a huge relief. I can hardly wait for the season to start!

49 days until NYG takes on Dallas week one
On January 4, 1987 the Giants hosted the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional round of the playoffs (the first round). It was expected to be a typical defensive battle, as NYG finished with the second fewest points allowed and the 49ers were one spot behind.
They won by a score of 49-3 - the most dominant playoff win in franchise history. The most points they've ever scored in a playoff game, and biggest margin they've ever had in the playoffs.
◼️Quarterback Phil Simms completed 9 passes, 4 of them touchdowns.
◼️Running Back Joe Morris rushed for 159 yards on 24 carries with 2 touchdowns
◼️Lawrence Taylor picked off a pass and returned it for a 34-yard pick six (video below)
