Thank you to my friend MK Rabbi @KarivGilad for welcoming leaders of the pluralistic movements to the Knesset today for an important hearing on how we deepen the already strong bonds between these communities and Israel.

The recent Zionist Congress shows that when the Jewish world in Israel and the Diaspora comes together, there is a clear liberal and pluralistic majority. An Israel that does not embrace democratic values and pluralism not alongside but as a core part of its Jewish character will not truly be a state in line with the Zionist vision nor truly a nation-state of the Jewish people.

The fact that any delegate to the World Zionist Congress would participate in a protest against IDF service is a disgrace. National service is defined as a core Zionist value in the Jerusalem Platform, and as signatories on that platform, the ultra-Orthodox factions must immediately reject the planned participation of any of their delegates in tomorrow’s anti-Zionist demonstration. WZO must demand repayment from any delegate who traveled to Israel on the dime of the Zionist Movement and participates in promoting draft dodging.
