JAPA IF YOU CAN!!!!
As an international student working 20hrs per week here, let’s say I earn around €900 monthly (which is mostly even higher). If I have worked for at least one year, I become entitled to unemployment benefits of around €500 until I get another job.
The government will even be the one sending me links for jobs while unemployed.
Nur be life we dey live for Nigeria 🇳🇬.
You MUST read this if you want to JAPA in 2026/2027.
2027 Japa Playbook: How to Japa with Strategy
If you must relocate in 2026/2027, do it intentionally. Your destination should match your goals, budget, long-term plan, and skills.
1. If you need to leave Nigeria urgently via the study route
The UK remains the fastest route. But because the rules change often, always have a backup option—Lithuania, Ireland, Finland, or New Zealand.
2. If your target is study → permanent residency quickly
New Zealand continues to offer one of the most predictable PR pathways. High skill shortages + clear immigration rules = a strong option.
3. If you are working with a limited budget
Look at Asia or selected parts of Europe.
Asia (Japan, South Korea, Malaysia):
Low tuition, lower living costs, strong tech ecosystems. Always plan your next Japa step.
Europe (Sweden, Lithuania, Hungary, Slovakia, Latvia, Portugal, Finland, Russia):
These countries offer:
– High education quality
– Affordable tuition or tuition-free options
– Strong post-study work policies
– High chances of staying after graduation
– Work-life balance and stable systems
Sweden, Lithuania and Portugal especially allow graduates to remain and work after studies, giving you time to secure your future.
4. Countries to avoid as your long-term destination
Uzbekistan, Moldova, Serbia and most Gulf countries like Qatar, Kuwait , Bahrain, Oman at all cost.
They offer jobs, not stability or long-term residency.
Invest that money in a diploma in NZ or a low-cost EU country.
5. If you’ve been abroad 5+ years with no residency
It’s time to move.
Don’t stay stuck.
The goal and best ROI of Japa is residency
Use the study route to relocate to a country that gives you a real pathway to stay permanently.
6. Asylum routes are the weakest Japa strategy for 2026
Unpredictable, unstable, stressful, and not worth the risk.
DO NOT GO THROUGH THE ASYLUM ROUTE. Unfollow and delete the number any agent advising you to follow through asylums
There are better, safer options.
7. Canada plans for 2027? Start now
Applications must begin in 2026.
The Canadian government is reducing student numbers.
Only early, well-prepared applicants will succeed.
8. Skilled workers are global gold in 2026/2027
If you have vocational, technical, trade, or digital skills, countries like the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of Europe want you urgently.
If you can build, fix, analyse, design, or create—you’re in demand.
9. Think beyond student visas
Consider:
– Global Talent (UK)
– Start-up/Investor visas (UK)
– Cultural Exchange
– Volunteer routes
– Canada Express Entry
– Nomad Visa etc
Most people don’t even know they qualify.
10. Financial Preparation & Proof of Funds (POF)
Before any application, organise:
– Bank statements
– Savings history
– Sponsor documents
– Ties to home country
– Your academic/career story
Lack of financial readiness is why many applications fail.
11. Career Positioning Before You Relocate
Build a strong CV now.
Get certifications.
Gain experience.
Take short courses.
The better your profile is in Nigeria, the faster you’ll get a job abroad.
12. Red Flags in 2026/2027
Avoid anyone promising:
– Guaranteed visas
– Fake Canada job offers
– “Connections” at embassies
– Work visas without interviews
– Unrealistic salary offers
– Total Package agents
Avoid using fake bank statements and references
If it sounds too easy, it’s fake.
13. Choosing the right country for YOU
Avoid copying others. Consider:
– Your budget
– The career you want
– Your family situation
– Visa-to-PR timeline
– Job market demand
– Language requirements
Your best country is the one that fits your future, not the trend.
14. Make 2027 your breakthrough year
Apply for scholarships, fellowships, training opportunities, and alternative Japa routes.
There are many pathways abroad.
Your job is to choose the one aligned with your purpose.
Gracias 🙏
