Today, Sept. 21, marks the 53rd year of dictator Ferdinand Marcos’ declaration of martial law — described by many Filipinos as one of the darkest chapters in Philippine history.

During the period, there were around 107,200 primary victims of rights violations, 70,000 people were arrested, mostly arbitrarily without warrants of arrest, 34,000 people were tortured, and 3,240 others were killed by the military and police, according to Amnesty International. #NeverAgain #NeverForget

MARCHING IN FLOODWATERS TO PROTEST FLOOD PROJECT CORRUPTION

Flooded streets became the backdrop of anger in Hagonoy, Bulacan on Saturday, Sept. 20, as hundreds of residents and local officials marched through murky waters to protest alleged corruptions in flood control projects.

According to Piscatores, the official student publication of Bulacan State University–Hagonoy Campus, the march drew hundreds who demanded accountability from officials.
