I stood there for a second, just staring at it.
I don’t know if that was a sign… or just me trying to make something out of nothing.
But for the first time that night—
It didn’t feel like I lost everything.

I walked out with that empty feeling—like I already knew how this would end.
I crossed the street, ready to go home.
But something didn’t sit right.
So I went back.
One last time.

I pulled out my phone, used the flashlight, and started looking. It was already late. The streets were quiet. I checked corners, trash bins, even went back to the restaurant and asked the cashier if someone had left anything behind.
Nothing.

I don’t know why—but I had this stupid, hopeful idea.
That maybe… if I found that receipt, her name would be there.
And maybe that would mean something.

A block away, something from our conversation came back to me. She mentioned losing the receipt for her brand new APC card. I remembered the way her voice dropped when she said it.
The shop wasn’t far from the bus stop.
So I turned around.

I had a short conversation with a girl I’d only seen once—same bus I take on the way home.
Her stop came too fast.
She was beautiful… and I regretted not even asking her name.
