BREAKING: Justice Sonia Sotomayor sounds the alarm in her dissent to the Supreme Court's immunity ruling, says that it gives the president the power to assassinate political rivals freely.

And somehow it gets even worse...

"Orders the Navy’s Seal Team 6 to assassinate a political rival? Immune. Organizes a military coup to hold onto power? Immune. Takes a bribe in exchange for a pardon? Immune. Immune, immune, immune," wrote Sotomayor, dissenting alongside Justices Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson.

The court ruled that Trump is immune for official acts taken as president, but said that there is a distinction between official and private actions. The case now goes back to the lower court to determine if his actions were official or private.

Kagan wrote that the "decision to grant former Presidents criminal immunity reshapes the institution of the Presidency."

"The indictment paints a stark portrait of a President desperate to stay in power," she wrote. "Because our Constitution does not shield a former President from answering for criminal and treasonous acts, I dissent."

"Never in the history of our Republic has a President had reason to believe that he would be immune from criminal prosecution if he used the trappings of his office to violate the criminal law," she continued.

"Moving forward, however, all former Presidents will be cloaked in such immunity. If the occupant of that office misuses official power for personal gain, the criminal law that the rest of us must abide will not provide a backstop," she wrote.

"With fear for our democracy, I dissent," she added.
