I might do some reflecting to close out this year and welcome the new one. Otherwise, my routine today and tomorrow will be the same as yesterday.
Waiting for the 1st January to take on anything new is stupid. But all the power to the 10% folks who stick with their resolutions.
@xThatsBogus@ShaunLFC9@heroicgg They might be forced to sell them just to ensure their own survival, assuming the financial problems are still there (it's been a while and I haven't followed the story), but I would love if that's what would end up happening. They more than deserve that. What a mess..
1. Quit Twitter (or... X?) for a while
2. Come back, go into a thread, notice a few people with checkmarks
3. Think, "oh cool, I don't remember seeing them, I wonder what they're about"
4. Remember that now anyone can get a checkmark, and those people aren't too special
@sanisamuel_ @charlesdbecker @winterrose And Robert Greene would probably recommend you to go to the source which is of course The Prince. But his 48 Laws of Power is a great starting point and will give you a ton of references and books to look up later on if you'll want to learn more.
@david_perell This has a lot to do with the fact that people aren't really living, or in this case consuming content, with intent. Getting onto the social media feed is the path of least resistance and one that requires no plan or thinking, and the way apps are designed to facilitate that.
@AdamArsenault14 Giannis has had 3 triple-doubles all season and is still recovering from the injury, thus his questionable status before the game. If anything, 14.00 odds is too low.
@mysteriouskat I don't really sympathize with people who can't deal with being insulted on the internet. I would allow as much free speech as possible and improve the available tools for dealing with content and accounts we don't want to see (on an individual level).
@rayerskins@mysteriouskat I don't see what parallel are you trying to draw between literary accomplishments and free speech. How would editorial oversight be any different than censorship in this scenario? And what would it look like in practice?
@T_Zahil I always put on music to block background noises (if there are any), but then it sorta just fades into background and I don't even notice it.
It's only instrumental/trance music, though. I would probably get distracted by anything with vocals.
@mysteriouskat@elonmusk That's really the question, isn't it? What's supposed to be allowed and what isn't. And who's to (=should) decide, anyway?
I'd bring back everyone that wasn't a) spitting out pure hate, because that's shit to read anyway, and b) openly doing crime.
@LynAldenContact I'd also prefer this over a network-wide filtration. Twitter has a relatively good set of privacy/blocking tools and I wish they did a better job promoting (and improving) it instead of training people to rely on the actual app do to this job for them. It's very shortsighted.
@paulg I was already considering this angle of Putin looking weak if he pulled out not being victorious, but not the coup idea. That's an interesting take.
@AmasCreates@naval Maybe in visual arts? I don't see it happening in literary media anytime soon, unless we're talking Amazon Kindle Unlimited sort of quality.
