@lextorias@Catlord73 Speed Racer opinions aside, I don't see how quoting old reviews addresses what OP said about the different mediums making people come off differently. If anything, responding the way you did kinda proves his point
@BloodravenFGC@sp1nda_pgh with superiority complexes and see what the normal levelheaded Melee players are actually saying, and when it comes down to it, Melee players really love Melee as is. Few things like Battlefield ledges can be improved but for most it'd simply be icing on the cake.
@BloodravenFGC@sp1nda_pgh It's okay to like customizable controls, bigger rosters, modern visuals, more stages, a varied soundtrack, a buffer system, etc. But you can do that while recognizing there's flaws nobody likes. Sometimes people gotta see through the smoke of tribalist elitists-
@BloodravenFGC@sp1nda_pgh I got into competitive Smash with Smash 4 and played the shit out of it as well as Ultimate. I'd love to be able to call it all preference and enjoy both games in different ways, but it's hard when one game is filled to the brim with things every player and spectator hates (3/3)
@BloodravenFGC@sp1nda_pgh which is that Ultimate is flawed in ways that hurt the people who enjoy it competitively. Not being able to go through opponents, sticky platform edges, the removal of shield dropping, half-baked parry system, extremely high input lag, terrible online, the list goes on. (2/3)
@BloodravenFGC@sp1nda_pgh I agree with your statement, but at the same time it's kind of a mute point because you could ask any Ultimate player "do you like Ultimate's buffer system/not being able to go through opponents" and the vast majority would almost certainly say no
