@ProfSteveKeen@benbernanke By way of strong support for Professor Keen here is a shot of the neoclassical economics team, including Ben Bernanke and 2 other Nobel Economics Prize winners.
between capital and labor. Michael Shellenberg's capitalism has long outlived its usefulness. Trickle-down used to work and worked well but is now just an excuse for greed.

No. Your analysis was resoundingly valid for 200 years but is now comprehensively invalid and seriously misleading.
The key process generating growth and its socially transformative benefits was the causal link between
long-term impoverished and it is not difficult to see in these major economic shifts the source of the social unrest in many developed economies.
The urgent task macroeconomists now have is to devise policies which restore the socially, politically and morally essential balance
@rethinkecon@monja_estopa With all due immodesty, I recommend my book, Shamanomics: a Short Guide to the Failure, Fallacies and Future of Macroeconomics as a sardonic comment on the Crisis of 2008 and the dismal state of the dismal science. See https://t.co/KgKcz2cPIh for a summary.
@rethinkecon It's much worse. McChesney Martin, then Fed Chairman, stated the core operating principle for the Fed/CBs: 'take away the punchbowl before the party gets out of hand', ie control credit. Bernanke failed to do this and was therefore one of the chief architects of the 2008 crisis.
@LHSummers@nytimes MMT could hardly be worse than the neoclassical economics espoused by Summers, Greenspan and Bernanke, the architects of the global crisis of 2008.
@jordanr_k 2. It was the reliance on the spurious validity of maths by neo-classical economists like Greenspan, Bernanke and Summers which led to the Crisis of 2008. See my book, Shamanomics: a Short Guide to the Failure, Fallacies and Future of Macroeconomics, https://t.co/ks6GtUwLMA.
@jordanr_k 1.Maths is the last thing economics is. The mathematizing of economics, from its origins with Leon Walras to the mathematical invasion of the subject by Samuelson and since, has given an utterly spurious veneer of reliable 'science' to economics.
@EdwardGLuce@FinancialTimes The stupidity of Putin's move is quite extraordinary. He could have been the Russian leader who finally moved his country into a positive, peaceful growth path. Instead he has chosen adolescent mischief-making. He will probably be gone in 5 years.
@jimsciutto As with most of Trump's 'foreign policy' moves, this sprang from his mental inability to grasp and deal seriously with the issue rather than from any principled, considered policy. 'America first' was, and is, a cover for fecklessness.
@ForeignAffairs No, the fundamental problem is the Supreme Court's condoning of electoral corruption evidenced by their recent decisions approving gerrymandering and, in Citizens United, the contamination of the electoral process by money.
