Who were the 'School Strikers for Climate' in Belgium? My research reveals they were mostly urban, female students with higher socio-economic backgrounds. Surprisingly, missing school for the strikes didn't affect their academic achievements. More details in the manuscript!

New article 'School absenteeism and academic achievement: does the timing of the absence matter?' out in Learning and Instruction. Funded by @FWOVlaanderen

Few studies have examined how timing of absenteeism affects achievement. Results show that absences are more harmful at the beginning and end of the school year. The effect of time also varies according to the absenteeism reasons.
