@ignored_the @Jedcorp2@WayneAdams59@kent_bond11 @Dobber_DeadPool @RoArquette What happened to my great-aunt was mild compared to some.
Research mental institutions in the 1960s. Or the Rosenhan experiment report 1973. Horror stories abound. It was a different time back then. Many who had what we now know as dementia or Alzheimer's were committed for life.
@MC_J_bru@BrandonHarami I'm with you.
I have a garden to grow my own food and my kids had teachers who knew our whole family.
And now I have no rent or mortgage and don't have to worry about my rent going so high I have no where to live in my 70s.
@Jedcorp2@WayneAdams59 @ignored_the @kent_bond11 @Dobber_DeadPool @RoArquette I happen to agree with the LPS Act in 1967.
My great-aunt was institutionalized against her will in 1930 at age 21. She had epilepsy, not a mental illness!
She died there, horribly, at the hands of abusers.
@Sanusinextdoor @SacLMoore @maphedile @Jaytp47_@lepena_likhethe@Xhosa35176379 Not Gregory for sure.
But it is interesting that - except for I think 4 countries? - the world accepts a time calendar set by the birth of the Christ. With all the other religions in play, I find that most perplexing.
Who would've thought they'd agree on that of all things?!?
@fritchee @kingtungsten @NYDailyNews Our government opens up every day to prayer spoken publically on Capital Hill. I wonder who, if anyone, has complained to Nancy Pelosi about this practice.
@_BarringtonII Harvard failed to relay to him that the census of 1790 revealed that 59,000 free blacks lived in the United States -- approximately 27,000 in the North and 32,000 in the South.
Do we just ignore their existance?
@Trying0ver @KeithOlbermann @LoriSarian @MSNBC@CNN Crazy how little stuff can stick in your head. I can hear that announcer saying that plain as day...wasn't it someone famous?? But thanks for the confirmation!! 🙂
@KeithOlbermann @Trying0ver @LoriSarian @MSNBC@CNN I remember traveling for work late 1980s and CNN was the fav for all of us as we could get all the news quickly as we dressed for work at the hotels.
For some reason I'm thinking
"Around the world in ?? minutes"
Was it 15 or 30??
@HBCU__ @_BarringtonII I lived it and it was a beautiful time. Natural hair, Afro picks, African inspired clothes. Sitting around and watching All In The Family and The Jeffersons with racially diverse friends and we all laughed at the bigotry together.
What happened? I don't know.
@byrdyman@flomegod@MPleasing72 No I don't agree, as that has not been my experience. And I don't understand the name issue - a cracker is unleavened bread and plantation is a centuries old term used in deeds to describe any plot of land no matter the size
Now you bring in the "south".
Of course it has changed
