When it comes to retirement of great players, it’s always better when fans ask “why” rather than “when”.
Too many times greats have dragged on past their prime.
Fully support @benstokes38 decision.
This whole “youngster time will come” nonsense in Indian dressing room must end.
When a player like #VaibhavSuryavanshi is in amazing form, play him. Doesn’t matter if he is 15 or 25.
India has been humiliated in Ireland and their cultural mindset stuck in Iron Age is to blame
Did you know❓
Kapil Dev was never run out in any of his 184 Test innings, the most by any batter. Jonny Bairstow is second on the list, having avoided a run out in all 178 of his Test innings, while two current players are in sight of the record: New Zealand captain Tom Latham (170 innings) and Sri Lanka's Dinesh Chandimal (162 innings).
Shardul Thakur, Nitish Reddy, Mitch Starc, Hanuma Vihari, Mayank Agarwal, Mathew Wade.
Some of the names with more runs than Kane Williamson in SENAI overseas tests since 2018.
Nabi wasn't picked for probably the same reason Sarfaraz (the only centurion in the previous series vs NZ) was made to sit on the bench in Aus and then dropped.
Many Ranji stars have been treated unfairly over the years.
Another example of the past is Amol Mazumdar.
No amount of justification can convince me of the non-selection of Aquib Nabi. Poor guy bowled his heart out for two seasons and picked 100+ #RanjiTrophy wickets only to be ignored for someone who had played just 2 games this season.
Please stop this nonsensical justifications: Hit the deck bowler, hit the head bowler, hence picked. While I can understand they are special skill sets, it can’t be rewarded without decent game time, by ignoring someone with unprecedented performances for seasons. I’m afraid, a wrong message has been sent out to the youngsters who are giving their heart and soul in the #RanjiTrophy
Dileep Vengsarkar - “Can you imagine Nabi's plight right now? He took 60 wickets in the Ranji Trophy. He has worked hard for it and deserves a place ahead of everyone else. If domestic cricket performances are not a criterion, then the BCCI should scrap domestic cricket.
The selector's decision to ignore him is absolutely absurd and baffling. What kind of selection is this? It is not acceptable. It is injustice.”
(Vengsarkar told The Times of India)
Two incredible performances in the history of the ODI world cups. One resulted in a world cup winning campaign & the other fell just short but cricket fans remember and cherish both the campaigns. Both Klusener and Yuvraj got the POTS awards for their stellar contributions in those campaigns.
Who do you think had a bigger impact on the respective campaign and who is your favourite?
Imran Khan was a phenomenal cricketer. One of his best achievements as a caution was leading Pak to a Test series draw in Windies in 1988 against a very powerful WI team led by Viv.

Reason IPL has become so boring and having viewership decline on TV is because its no more a cricket league... but a BATTING league...
there is nothing in it for the bowlers...
cricket is only exciting when there is competition between bat and ball.
Not batter vs batter.
Have you ever felt frustrated when someone else received credit for your work? Here's a remarkable story of a man who deliberately chose to let that happen.
During the time of the First World War, Somerset County Cricket Club was struggling with severe financial difficulties. As a result, they often had to rely on amateur players rather than professionals. For context, amateurs typically played for passion and pride, while professionals played for money.
After the war ended, Somerset was scheduled to play a match against Gloucestershire. Still burdened by financial constraints, the club turned to twin brothers Dudley and Sydney Rippon, both of whom had been injured during the war, to strengthen the team.
Dudley came to play without hesitation. Sydney, however, faced a different challenge. He was employed by the Inland Revenue and felt it would be inappropriate to request leave simply to play cricket. Instead, he applied for leave citing illness and went on to participate in the match.
Sydney delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 92 in the first innings and remaining unbeaten on 58 in the second, leading Somerset to victory. However, the following day's newspaper scorecard listed him as,
S. Trimnell c Williams b Parker - 92
This created confusion among the more than 9,000 spectators who had attended the match, prompting them to seek clarification from Somerset.
It was eventually revealed that Sydney had used a pseudonym 'S. Trimnell', on the team sheet, combining his grandmother’s initial and surname, in order to avoid being identified by his employers. Fortunately for him, his superiors were understanding, and no action was taken against him.
Sydney went on to play more cricket, but Dudley never appeared again after this incident. Dudley passed away in 1963, and Sydney in 1966.
Today marks the birth anniversary of the Rippon brothers.

Even though India beat Pak in 92 WC… the trauma of this six was actually broken in 96 WC when @venkateshprasad destroyed Sohail stumps and Pak couldn’t win despite Miandad at the crease … trying his best but couldn’t time anything.
'The power of the six' 🙌
Phil Walker reflects on 40 years since Javed Miandad's incredible last-ball six helped Pakistan beat India in the Austral-Asia Cup final 🏆

I love New Zealand's cricket board the way they never stop their cricket because of IPL.
Meanwhile, IPL is going on they played a 5 match T2OI series vs South Africa & right now playing ODI series vs Bangladesh & they don't do any drama like not giving NOCs to their player for IPL/PSL or any other league.
They give NOCs to all & then use their domestic players to build new team & bring more talents to International level. This is how they groomed Chapman, Mitchell, Bracewell & many other bowlers.
