Today marks a a major milestone for the rights of people with disabilities in Ireland.
Government has approved ratification of the Optional Protocol of the UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
This means that if a person with a disability believes they are being denied their rights, they can take a case directly to the United Nations.
