It may have been an upset by ranking but not really a true "upset" given that Barbora Krejcikova is a former Wimbledon champion (and a better grass court player). Also just goes to show how hard it is to do well both on Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year.
Stan Wawrinka spoke with tears in his eyes after losing his final Wimbledon match to Berrettini
“This is your final Wimbledon appearance. After that performance are you sure you want to retire?”
Stan: “I don’t want to retire but I know it’s time for me to stop. 🥹One of the reasons I kept playing for so long was to enjoy these moments like tonight. So much emotion. I’m so grateful to have this opportunity. To have received a wildcard.. to have the chance to play one last time in Wimbledon. It’s such a special tournament. As a kid you always dream about maybe being here one day. I had a chance to play it so many times. With that kind of support, it means so much to me. Thank you so much for all those years.”
Stan: “It was not my first time here. I pushed it to my own limit tonight. It was a great fight. Matteo is a good friend. He’s a great guy. He deserved to win, so congrats. It’s never easy to say goodbye to something you love so much. I’ve always been passionate about the game. I’m grateful. I’d like to thank everybody because I had a chance, this opportunity to play here. I couldn’t dream of a better goodbye. Thank you so much for the support.” 🥹🥹🥹
It’s officially the worst opening day at Wimbledon for the Brits🇬🇧 for 21 years with 9 losses….
The LTA is one of the most funded institutions in the world, yet they are completely incompetent…
Time for a complete rebuild it simply isn’t good enough @the_LTA
Is the LTA doing something wrong with British tennis players?
Supposedly have the very best facilities & people but the players like Draper, Raducanu, Kartal etc are always injured
It's becoming not can they win,but can they actually play?
Too much training & cotton wool?
Both Draper and Raducanu pulling out shortly before opening round matches, brutal for Britain.
A reprieve, though, for Taylor Fritz, who will face a lucky loser tomorrow instead.

Jess Pegula also echoed many thoughts and bemusement with ITIA and said she's not surprised anymore. Said they always seem to have an explanation for the most extreme or unusual circumstances. Said system is broken and players just don't trust it anymore.
UPDATE: Emma Raducanu has moved her media commitments to Sunday.
My reading of this is she wants to avoid the Rome scenario (where she confidently did media then pulled out shortly afterwards) - and also wants to give herself an extra day before finally deciding.
Alex Eala actually has a decent Wimbledon draw.🙂 Serena at R2 shouldn't be that much of a worry. In fact, it will be good for her pr-wise...win or lose.😆 Iga at R3 - not in her best form. This could be the Slam draw where she gets the highest chance to reach the 2nd week.
