It’s Sunday July 23, 2006 which means SportsCenter has its top plays of the week!
We are all so lucky ESPN has nothing but sports highlights for us all morning to watch!
Bryan Cook
3 years 40 million
2026 Cap hit 10.67 million
Bradley Chubb
3 years 40 million
2026 Cap hit 6.5 million
Jaelan Phillips
4 years 120 million
2026 Cap hit 9.99 million
Boys Mafe
3 years 60 million
2026 cap hit 17 million
They paid 10 million more in 2026 cap hit for 60 million less in contract values
Notice the difference? They are shoving it all in year one killing the cap just to avoid paying year two guarantees and spend LESS CASH. ITS CHEAP
The negativity directed to the #Bengals front office for how they structure contracts, especially after 3 straight seasons of missing the playoffs, is justified and mostly comes from the desire to want to see the organization be successful.
So the Bengals…
- Refuse to restructure major contracts
- Inflate first year cap hits to be cap compliant
- Hesitate to give guarantees past year 1
But people want me to be optimistic, got it.
These incompetent fucking clowns had a recipe for success handed to them on a golden platter & just completely fucked it up
How am I supposed to ever get excited about the Bengals ever again?
If you’re not going to go all in to win right now, you never will
Joe Burrow said this offseason was “paramount” to the #Bengals
This is what he’s seen:
•Added three solid players on defense
•Lost their most proven pass rusher
• Massive year one cap hits on the FAs that limits their cap space now
• Clutching a comp pick for Trey over pursuing more outside FA
•Every other big contract QB restructured to add MORE CAP space, they did not do that with him OR Ja’Marr
Joe Burrow is watching this all play out and it’s a massive middle finger to him by this #Bengals front office!
Yes, the Bengals gave out the two highest 2026 Cap Hits to APY deals.
The average 2026 Cap Hit was 51% of the Average Per Year.
The other teams that gave out big Year 1 Cap Hits? Raiders, Titans, Cardinals.
Because they don't have a QB to pay and had tons of cap space.
And it's not like the Bengals are offering less cash in year one. Their year 1 Cash to APY ratio is amongst the highest in the league.
They're not saving cash. They're not saving cap. They're just limiting their 2026 team. Again.
Joe Rogan just described the average modern life in 42 seconds—and it stings because it's so accurate.
"Most people don't have that kind of self-control and discipline. They don't have to.
Alarm goes off → wash, brush teeth, eat something, go to work → do the bare minimum → sneak phone time in the bathroom → come home → Netflix → sleep → repeat.
Family problems, job stress, car broken, house issues, bills piling up… everything's always wrong, everything's distracting."
He calls it what it is: a loop most people are trapped in, not because they're lazy, but because the system doesn't demand more—and distraction is the default.
Be honest: How much of your day feels like autopilot right now?
And what (if anything) are you doing to break the cycle?
I'm not knocking football, but there’s something wrong with their calendar. I'm at SJU and we are potentially a one seed and can win a National Championship this year, and I leave in March??? What’s going on here?
