@dandouglas I remember a post where a GP surgery accidentally didn’t put the decimal point in. They called him because his BMI was something like 0.2 and they wanted to let him know he was underweight 😂 easily corrected at least!

As a mature student who doesn’t get financial support from family - I’m genuinely scared my last year of medical school is going to financially ruin me. I already get the max bursary from my uni (which I don’t think I’m eligible for in my final year). 1/

I’ve got over £9k on my credit cards just to afford to live. I love my course and am excited to be a doctor. But when I look at how much student and personal debt I’m in, the pay resident doctors get, and the crazy competition ratios for speciality training… is it worth it? 2/

@DrNeenaJha I wonder if there’s a degree of sexism in it. Assistants are classically related to female roles. Associates were more reserved for male roles. People don’t want to seem lesser for ‘just’ being a assistant 🤷🏼‍♀️

@ExplosiveEnema2 I agree that it’s been a systemic failure, but as a Porter we don’t know who requested the scan. We just get told where the patient needs to go. The most we find out is the patients name and what scan they’re having done.

@mulberryjane I was in a lecture about intracranial pressure and the lecturer combined the words “short cut” and “shunt” and said “short c*nt” to 250 medical students. It’s one lecture I won’t forget 😂

@DrNeenaJha Hypermobility came to be diagnosed and recognised. My recurring ?appendicitis/ovarian issue is actually idiopathic psoas syndrome. And if it wasn’t for that GP making that connection of simple ‘heartburn’ (actually oesophageal spasm) and ‘weird GI issues’ I think I wouldn’t…

@implausibleblog It’s definitely not appropriate to send people who have been forced into volunteering. I’m definitely against this national service suggestion, teenagers have enough on their plate.

@implausibleblog I was a community first responder - a volunteer ambulance responder. I left because our role was being expanded to a degree that I didn’t agree with. We were effectively becoming ECAs (minus the blue light driving qualification)

@implausibleblog The role of the CFR was created for people to respond to life threatening emergencies in their local area - not travel 30+ miles for a non injury fall, or doing an assessment on an unwell patient without back up. It pushed my goodwill to the limits and I left.
